I agree with you Brad. I feel like I am missing out by not going to LDI. As for the APC mini. I am still putting it to the test. I have not noticed any issues with the sliders. I have never lost communication in the middle of Live content. I am having an issue when I press a button LSX goes...

This pilgrimage to LDI by so many people I know, leads me to think that while I never thought I'd have an interest in going, I probably need to give it consideration. Anxious to hear everyone's reports. Edit: (But not in this poor guys thread. :))

This is a bit of a tangent so apologies in advance. I spent yesterday with the X-Laser crowd at LDI yesterday and was amazed at the lighting console control options being introduced for those coming from a traditional lighting background that want to control their lasers with this frame of...

Question for Jason - us in the Pangolin crowd  have had issues with the sliders on the APC Mini (jitters and lost communication) - I see you've built one into your control station. Has it been playing nicely with LSX? I would assume so since you've taken the time to build it in.

Just to add my two cents. Etherdream 2 (Currently available) has DMX built in to the board so no extra board to buy. I am currently using an Etherdream 2 to send DMX signals to a DMX to Analog voltage converter to control my lumia. I have also played around with using the same DMX signal to...

Brad, Thanks for the explanation. I'd like to learn Beyond, and was just pondering whether this could be a reasonable path to get set up. The extra wall wart won't be an issue in my case... I'll have larger power concerns, related to the three phase fort the ion systems. Lol. Brad

Hi Debbie, Yes it is still available. I recently fired it up and all electronics appear to be functioning well. Did not heat tube up completely or attempt to lase as I assume the tube will need to be replaced. Please PM me and I will provide contact info. Best regards, PH

May I quote you on that in five years? Anyway... The good news is: the industry is transitioning into network controlled devices, which are much easier to program. No platform specific USB drivers required, only network packages to worry about. That's why the Etherdream is being...

Don't know that there is a DAC that does. X-Laser is revealing a new method of controlling lasers with DMX this weekend at LDI so, maybe that's on the horizon but, in the interim, a company called Enttec makes a box that goes between the laptop and your dmx devices that can be used to control that...

But, it would allow you extra red power in the same beam using both dichro and PBS. Think about it for a single mode diode setup... 660/638 > PBS > 660/638 all in the same beam. No beam stacking or knife-edging.

Ok thanks Bradfo69 !! That makes things a LOT more clear. And I'm good with the links. I can google em up a lot easier now that I have more of an idea of what the heck :) One last question (sorry) ... well actually I can google whether a DAC sends out both DMX and ILDA for the projector....

Yes, a scanner in most cases is two motors built into a block to hold them in place with mirrors arranged in such a way to move the beam to the various X and Y coordinates. . I'm not actually sure a DAC contains a CPU since I'm not an electronics geek but DAC is Digital Analog Converter. ...

Ok I'm a software guy. Not a hardware guy (or driver guy). I could maybe do some embedded cpu programming in C. So i'm guessing a scanner is the motor powered mirrors + steppers that scoot the laser in 2 dimensions? And I'm guessing a DAC is an embedded cpu that feeds the project ILDA...

I bought their sample kit several years ago with about 50 pieces of architectural glass and there were a number of good pieces that were in that kit. I got a sheet of the Spectrum Clear Granite, as well as 5 lbs of the random pieces thanks to you reminding me about them.

May I interject. Start simple and build up. You can do a lot with little. You seem capable so try combining a set of s7ngle mode diodes and add a set of scanners. Pickup an inexpensive dac and then for affordable bliss try lsx. It a deep program to learn but with your background a good...
