Bah, you all worry far too much. Just light the propane torch and get at it :D I've made a goodly few of these tubes from the small glass bottles and there's nothing special to it. Sure, it may take a couple of goes to get something useful, but you'll soon learn what looks good. Oh, and i've...

If you take two dual 10k linear sliders, wire them backward to each other, take the wipers through voltage followers (to minimize noise from the sliders), take the output of the voltage followers to x&y summing amps - when the sliders are both up you'll get full output from the normally wired...

Good news, bad news. Good news: A variance obtained by X-Laser can absolutely be made valid for other compliant brands and we do so at no charge. Bad news: The X-Laser EZ Variance Kit is for people over 18 only. Sorry!! That's not my call, it's my lawyer's. I pay them too much not to listen...

    1) You are going to be using cw (continuous wave), not pulsed lasers but I will check my variance application tomorrow just to see what may have been listed on mine. 2) You can, in theory but, remember the earlier comment about Chris Shorts e-submission taking months and finally he filed on paper...

OK, well if everything else is smooth, I would first ask what galvos are in your projector. x-laser mirage and skywriter, both look identical. both look flawless with all other shows and programs. i think it might just be the sfx loop called "123" in LSX, can anyone verify that? ---...

We discussed the historical merits of this holiday a few days ago in the chatroom. Wikipedia tells us that the Native Americans outnumbered the pilgrims by almost two to one at what is billed as "the first Thanksgiving". Hindsight being 20/20, we agreed that the NAs should have killed and...

OK, well if everything else is smooth, I would first ask what galvos are in your projector. Some galvos have problems making small-step moves accurately. I have several examples in my environment that I can demonstrate by drawing a small rectangle on a bounce mirror from 50 feet away. The number...

Many thanks for all the tips! I actually considered going to the 506, but needed a quick swap fix. Of course it turned out to be not that quick with all the communication complications. I've got the offshore stuff here now and might as well get them in. Next time though...

Hey Wait! before isolating entire PJ, which is recommended, it could also work well with AC+DC CGP but you must remove ILDA25 completely as you pointed. Ok, so disconnect completely R-, G-, B- from the drivers (which shorts to ILDA25 thru FB3), and connect all drivers negatives to your AC+DC CGP...

Hi all, thanks for the responses and help. My scanners do indeed connect 0v DC to the optical plate, so that dictates I should isolate ILDA pin 25 for the "less ideal but acceptable" wiring approach with pin 25 isolated, and AC/DC forming the central grounding point. BAD NEWS: However, I did...

I actually wouldn't recommend modding unless you're very comfortable soldering SMDs an have an O-Scope handy. Modding the amps is not just as simple as replacing a few components. Keep in mind, Pangolin does not offer tuning services anymore for modded amps.

Try using an isolation transformer on the laptop. That won’t fix the real problem but will make the laptop vanish from the equation. Or. Use the laptop on battery. You got ground loop for sure. I had a ground problem caused by using a power conditioner. Still not sure why but taking it out of...
