Oh hell.... after researching, Meriweather's right in the same block is my kind of food. It's not cheap but, it's close by. https://www.meriwethersnw.com/
    .
And another place I found is Ataula which is a Spanish Tapas place a block or two away and closer to the hotel then even the venue.

Rental car and hotel are taken care of. Anything worthwhile to do on Thursday night? Concerts or "must try" restaurants? I know nothing about Portland. I know I'm going to drive into Washington state at some point, just to add one more state to the list I can say I've been in. I'm at around 42 or 43 of them.
I used to live in Vancouver and I'm having a hard time coming up with anything "must try". There's Gustav's on 164th, which is a Portland-based Bavarian cuisine restaurant. This is close to Big Al's bowling, which is Vancouver outfit.. I've always thought of Vancouver as a suburb of Portland.

Dude... we have to try Meriweathers. They even have a wine named after you - check out their "Happy Hour" menu. This place screams "me". I can't wait to check it out.

Place will ever be the same after a bunch of laser geeks are in two minute walking distance!

Wow, did not notice that when I checked out their site, initially.

How far is Mcminimans school from the venue?
As far as food goes, Portlands an absolute goldmine for great edible anything.

McMenamins Kennedy School is about 15 minutes away. (6-7 miles, depending on route)
    (LINK to GMaps wizardry )

You are correct. Much good food to be had in and around Portland.

So, I guess NWLEM is next week!

Looking forward to hanging with you all! Let me know if you have any questions or requests so I can get everything covered. Also, if you plan on attending, do get in touch with me so I can make sure you get credentials, etc.

Probably going to just do standard name badges this year. The venue change definitely ended up costing a little more than I had originally budgeted for. Fortunately, this new venue has many amenities the other did not like built-in sound and lighting (in addition to what we'll be bringing) and a lift, among other things like better seating.

I'm planning on bringing the new Advanced Laser Router however... one of the things sort of necessary is a computer monitor. I'd rather not drag one across country if you can bring one with a standard VGA connection. Doesn't have to be anything big - an old crappy 13" would even work.
