Default building my case, base plate thickness

I currently have a large 1 cm thick aluminum sheet I can cut my baseplate from. Is 1cm thick enough for a 50cm x 40cm baseplate?

yes. i typically use 1/4" inch (.6cm) for my baseplates and have never had any issues.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Nice. How large is your baseplate though? I had a .6cm baseplate on my old projector and it didnt misalign but it was only 30 x 30 cm.
