I'm thinking about this.... You willing to do a try before you buy - rental, if I pay shipping? Always wanted one but ended up over the years getting three of the BL-15's which, quite honestly, serve their purpose. I've never seen the BL-50 in person or, if I did, it was in about 2010 at an expo booth and, I really want to see if it's "that" much better/bigger/brighter/different, to have warranted the nearly $1000 increase in price over the BL-15 before spending the money to buy another.

ID:	51782 ..slightly larger chassis / aperture, but..

..Only real 'under the hood difference' between the 15 and 50, is a) they Do 'goose-up' the power - a bit - (though they are the Same 'base module', inside.. A little 'AiXiz' ChOEM DPSS greenie, dialed-up / down off the driver..) inside the 50, since in the 50, all they really do for 'more coverage' is 50/50 split the laser output, and add one more 'layer' of the Optical element.. So, with a BL-50, you get a 'wider coverage', with one unit, vs the 15, by itself.. But, if you've already Got 3x 15s, you're already able to 'cover more', that 1x 50, by itself..

..Incidentally, you - yourself - can also 'goose up' the power in the BL-15s, via the driver, provided that a) You're either Out-of (or don't care-about.. the 'Warranty', since opening them does void that, and b) You're only gonna do that for cases where you Won't be hitting people (since, goosing-up the 'baseline' power' could result in exceeding the 'MPE' of each beamlet.. 'How much', dunno, but.. IIRC, those modules were usually something like 75-85mW (in the BL-15s..) and 100-130mW, Tops, in the BL-50s, so.. Not like they are using 7W diodes.. Still, one would be-advised to ONLY mod that power, IF it were for a 'fixed' (ie: ceiling-only..) application, where it could-not hit people / exceed MPE.. Anyhoo..

..I think, perhaps, in 'newer Gens' of the BL-50, they may-have used 2x Diodes (or, 2x smaller / cheapie DPSS greens..) vs One, larger one, with the 50/50.. Dunno.. but, all the 'older' ones (ie: circa 2009-2010, etc) were as I describe..

Anyhoo, fwiw.. Though, I believe this-one may be 'spoken for'..

Thanks! I thought I had heard the optics were slightly different so the pattern was a little more complex and, wasn't sure if the blue nebula was larger. But yeah, three BL-15's affords plenty of coverage for my purposes. Next jump would be to 6 if I ever wanted to do the entire ballroom ceiling.
