    Default Magnum Lighting

Has anyone purchased from Magnum Lighting?

I am looking at abandoning my original idea and buying 2 of these units instead.

I just wont know about the second part of my art grant until after April 16th.

We would bring these into Canada if that makes any difference. I know there was a refund for US purchases a while back.

I'm not familiar with Magnum but I know Goldenstar has had some reviews here on PL. While they certainly aren't a top recommended pick for quality I believe they have a decent reputation on this site for their customer service. I haven't bought any complete projectors from them but I have bought some components before. If you're on a tight budget they are probably worth checking out.

I know you are trying for RGB but as someone else had mentioned in another thread going with a higher powered green only projector would probably give you the best visibility for the money.

I'm also noticing that this thread is a week old so maybe you've abandoned the idea of buying a projector completely and are just considering building one. In any case Goldenstar sells components too.

    Reading the specs:

    Red 638nm 180mw
    Green 520nm 120mw
Blue 450nm 700mw <----- As always, this irritates me.

I can't stand when companies use big blue to pump up the numbers on their projector. It's nothing but a selling ploy to bump the price up with one of the cheapest methods. This is nothing but a super ultra sized Big Gulp that is 95% ice. Sure, it's 1W total output but will look blue as shit! What it really is, is a 0.4W balanced white projector. Hard to tell the construction quality without any pics under the hood but the tricky power advertising grinds my gears to no end and every time a company does it, I know not to buy from them.
If you're the smartest person in the room, then you're in the wrong room.
