I'm having a hard time determining if I should set the Beyond software to linear or logarithmic response for color modulation. They both seem to work better on different cues and I don't know how to determine which is actually better. When displaying a rainbow fan, logarithmic response seems to provide bolder more evenly divided colors while linear response seems a bit more dull and also projects a patch of white that's not actually in the cue. On the other hand, logarithmic response seems to fail to display colors properly in other cues that linear response gets right.
Since a lot of the cues in Beyond are user made and inevitably were designed on different projectors with various hardware is it possible that some cues display better with log and others with linear depending on the hardware they were designed on or should that not really matter? What's the best way to determine which setting I should use or do I just pick whichever one appeals to me on the greatest number of cues? I'm using two Lightspace Venus 2s and a Lightspace 6W. They each respond to the cues the same but I don't know anything about the type of drivers Lightspace uses.
On another driver note, I just received the two Venus 2s yesterday and I already know I'm going to be opening them up soon to try and balance the color a bit better. One of them is painfully more green than the other 2 watt and the 6 watt even though all three are typical blue heavy projectors. I've also noticed that the green diode in that same projector tends to come on sooner than the other two projectors. I'm assuming this probably has something to do with the beam suppression or the bias setting. Can anyone offer any tips to balancing them a bit better while I work up the courage to open up and start poking around two brand new projectors? Since I've only ever worked with some of the more common hobbyist drivers I'm a little reluctant to start turning random pots on an unfamiliar driver. Maybe I'll get lucky and they will all be labelled but I'm not counting on that. Thanks for the help.
Edit: Ignore the color balance issue. It turned out to be an ILDA cable issue. But the linear vs. logarithmic question still stands.
