You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?
I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
If you disagree Norty, then rather than being sarcastic, have the balls to say. What I said is my opinion and experience. If your experience differs then by all means recount it.
Not at all Al, and I don't disagree. I guess I was just amused by the amount you could write in response to a simple 'people on drugs in clubs' comment, and your critical analysis of 'hands in the air' origins.
All meant in the light hearted-est of ways. I thought the tone of my initial posts may have given that away.

Ok in that I case I apologise if my tone came across harsh in response. I obviously overlooked the humour that was meant here. As for the amount I wrote in response, I presumed Eric was asking because these things don't generally happen in the US and so are exclusive to the EU, so tried to explain it's origins. As I'm not in the US, again I wouldn't know the trends in US clubs for either dugs use or crowd reactions.

Whether Eric is exposed to it is one thing, but I would think it's fairly universal the world over, especially with dance music tourism what it is now.

One thing I suspected was that the "hands in the air thing" evolved with the increasing use of phone cameras. I notice that many of these hands hold phones that I suspect are recording the event. Evokes the image of the "Japanese tourist group". Things don't really change much.
I blame Queen and Radio GaGa

Music tourism's been around a long time though. People were travelling from the US and Australia to Gatecrasher just for the night, way back in the early 1990's. I'd expect other clubs such as Cream or Passion could tell a similar story.
Maybe at Festivals. Not so much in clubs from what I've seen.
