    Laser Warning Nd-YAG rod (3mm x 50mm)

I came across these upon Ebay:

I'm curious if it would be worth purchasing such a rod. I have a larger YAG system (unused, in a state of storage) that has a -much- bigger rod, but it is flash pumped.

I'm unsure if the rod I have there would be suitable for Diode pumping as it's probably 6-10mm wide and it was suggested by someone that it's a "bit big" possibly. Maybe these are more suitable for a diode pump.

Would this even be any use without datasheets, an idea of the doping % etc?

... me too, has two old NdYAG's waiting for something like diode-conversion ...

My actual infos say, it's quite possible, but the conversion efficiency with common rods won't be more, than something to play with ... not suited for "serious" lasering.

As I have a bunch of other lasers to work with (high power diodes and fiber-lasers), I didn't find the time for the NdYAG-conversion ... but maybe some day ...
