Default Where's the USB Port ILDA DB 25

    Hi all,
I'm new to PL and lasers. Just bought my first one. A cheapish one from China (a Dophin by Top Brite model c189). Just getting my toe wet. It doesn't have an ILDA DB25 pin port but supports ILD files via SD card. I'm wondering if any lasers have built in internal DACs and support USB ports. Why do we still need an external DAC? Can the ILDA port be replaced by USB?

    Thx.

At some point the digital data from the computer is going to have to be converted to analog signals. Whether that is in an external USB-controlled DAC or in an onboard USB or ethernet controlled DAC is the same.

There exist plenty of laser projectors with internal DACs, though they are usually controlled by ethernet as USB is limited by a 5 m cable length.
