...if you seek inspiration or hidden significance, you may find them, but if you want explanations and explicit meanings, they will not be there. From the introduction to Laserium by Ivan Dryer

I'm considering auditory vs visual: which suggests the other? With AI videos, obviously the music came first. Laserium, when done right, looks the more fundamental, and the sound, even pf, literally appears to be the wake generated by the light. That is quite a big difference, and obviously the...

Okay, so I'm struck by the AI videos much differently than most. Given that PF's music is astounding in and of itself, and given that it conjures and coaxes one's imagination to go in unexpected and complicated, and at times soothing mental streams of awareness...the AI video DEFINITELY...

Then, Elon would obviously own the IP to the A.I. collective, (as well as; Starlink's laser network, SpaceX, X, Mars colonies,...) which would replace human labor, who would inevitably become the slaves that will serve the filthy rich, who don't need jobs, because they're using AI to optimize...

Yes, huge improvement! I especially liked the playback speed adjustments and wondered whether they may have been done in post edit. Umm... so where did AI get the idea for the alien spaceships attacking Earth with lasers @ 2:35? War of the Worlds or was that its own creation? 🤔 OMG! My all time...

If the goal is to create sentient A.I., (or singularity level A.I.) aren't we talking about creating a new class of slaves? Whoever owns the computer owns this sentient entity, and controls it's destiny? What whip will it's overseer employ to maximize its profit?

By the way, the Echoes video you posted was from over a year ago. A lot has happened since then. Here's a more recent AI Pink Floyd video, and you can already see the vast improvements in "talent" and "soul (music)" https://youtu.be/astibs0-aT0 And another from 3 months ago, also very...

I think that if the AI in question was "trained" with self indulgent crap - it'll probably "learn" to "create" stuff that looks like self indulgent crap. Worse it's "training" probably never included "saying" "Not just no, but he'll no" to the majority of a piece like Echos. It important to realize...

Yes, I bought more ebay junk! A Melles-Omni 439 head and an Omni 100B supply. Yeah I know the head is likely dead, but...cheap. The Omni 100B uses an AMP connector for power? Looking for info. Case screws were gone so I hope it isn't toast. PS came today, head is on the way. Looking for...

Different strokes for different folks, my friend. Thanks for contributing to the conversation. I value others' alternative perspectives. No doubt, yours could make this topic go viral on PLF. Full disclosure: As an atheist, my reference to 'soul' was in the context of 'soul music'. which touches...

Are there any analog dmx ilda playback interfaces from china that work with SD card that can have frames triggered over DMX? Well, I think we can all agree that AI has no soul or emotions. But I disagree that it has no talent. I liked the video. Very trippy and very Pink Floyd. Definitely hitting the beats/cues and reflecting the tone/feel of the track. AI created something here that most of us could not (I'm...

Greg, my mistake. I was referring to the spinning-slot can in the background. I noticed the small disc shutter in the lower foreground but didn't know that was what your referral was toward.

To be clear about what is being used in the videos I'm posting, the 6b emulator has four ILDA outputs to four off the shelf projectors. I'm not doing anything with optics at this point. The sawteeth and and all other analog input signals end up as float values which get dealt with by software as...

Thanks Greg. All done with a pencil draftsman compass, small finishing nail, straight edge, a pair of brand new Fiske scissors and a spray can of Krylon Flat Black. Amazing, Greg, thanks for the photos. I hadn't imagined the "open air flying architecture" chopper was that big. Imagine the...

That is one really nice looking wheel, unlike the piece of open air flying architecture garbage shown in the photo and made about twenty years ago. The funny thing was, the TDA7274 low voltage DC motor speed controller regulated the motor so well the effect looked right. Also shown is the actual...

You're not visualizing the old galvo slotted can chopper correctly. As soon as the galvo started to turn off of zero the intensity began to diminish. Soon it eclipsed the beam completely. Additional gain added to to eclipse period. But there was always a vignette or roll off to the intensity.

"Mounted" is the engineering term, I just HOT GLUED the cardboard chopper disc to the end of a DC motor shaft that happen to have a small, .25" diameter brass pulley pressed flush on the end of the motor shaft. The carboard was from the back of a yellow legal pad if I remember correctly. The 1"...

I had a post "In the old days we did this" that shows my home grown PWM chopper blade that could produce exactly the tappered chop effect that Greg did.

The slotted can chopper could absolutely produce a vignetted chop... It's just optics, you could even adjust the vignetted chop by adjusting the width of the slot...
