Hi All, Well.... nearly a 12 year chapter to my life is coming to a close. In the coming weeks, I will be transitioning out of the job (and venue) that I have worked at since we opened in 2008. It's the place where the laser addiction was born, been home to Mt. Lasermore and, has provided...

Hi folks! Please forgive the title and try not to look for a technical exception (I'm looking at you, Steve! ;) ), but I wanted to share a project that I worked on for Sal (DiscotheFunkyHippo) that took up a good deal my time this past year. For those of you who attended the SELEM presentation...

Slide started a thread Dead Red Diode? in Help!
One of our 4 yr old Able 2.5w RGB systems has a 500mw red diode that was slow to come on for a while and then gradually just quit showing up. Opened the unit up and was hoping for a bad connection. Sprayed and reseated everything I could get to, including the brightness trim pot on the back but no...

Here are some of what I call Wesbows, in the office. Produced by a grating from Ed Wesly of Chicago, IL, they really light up a room. There's another strong order on the floor. Who wouldn't like a bit of residential spectra?

A few of you know about the project I've been working on, but now I can share it with everyone. For over a decade I've been a contractor for Kiteman Productions. They build large entertainment kites pulled by Waverunners for entertainment purposes. There is a driver and a pilot that sits facing...

Hello, Does somebody know how to remove the diodes from the NUBM08 block? I have read that it is necessary to heat the block. But how high should the temperature be? I removed the PCB from the diodes but cannot get the diodes out of the block. Thanks Joachim

Does anyone recall what the laser system (and company) is that uses lasers to map in very detailed 3D image of a biological system. I remember a very long time ago watching a show where serial killers would donate their bodies to science and this one company (maybe it was a DOE lab) would use...

Does anyone know what is in the CRC laser supplemental 2? Do any of these CRC handbooks contain the SILEX process? I believe it is a copper vapor laser that excites a highly tunable dye laser? How do they keep the copper vapor from coating on the glass tube and shorting it out? I would think...

I remember seeing a video for a CO2 laser cutter and the guy posting the video used antifreeze in the water for cooling the tube. Is this a thing? I am trying to keep algae from growing in my coolant. After about 2 weeks, the water starts to look a little cloudy and I change it. Does antifreeze...
