Oh yeah, like those sold by Laser FX, Laser Show Systems. I'd forgotten our PLF info exchange in that thread. (I just found Laser FX's weblink on the R4-077). Who else sells them?

In the past, I found that they performed about a 1/4 as well as the g-124s, even as big as they are!! (Of course, that's as-is not comparing to g-124s with the accelerator cards). They are tanks, though!

I'd like to see what your Stocker Yale actuator looks like. I found one of their linear actuators on line but not much else. We just used thin aluminum strips cut from a soda cans with General Scanning servos for image blanking or beam flags. I posted photos of this on PLF somewhere. On the...

I plan on using a Stocker Yale actuator (a poor man's GM20). I should be able to gradually apply voltage in small increments, inducing very minute deflection. This should give me decent control of the flag. I'm curious now about the shape of the edge of the flag. Perhaps I'm overthinking this...

How about an open "V" slot cut into a metal rectangle and painted w/flat black Krylon based on something like this: Although this shows an early, rotating beam chopper wheel of mine that was moved into and out of beam path with a motor driven lead screw, it worked great as a beam attenuator...

...does not look enough like spaghetti. Nice observation :-) I did some calculations on the 555 circuit. For the 555 to produce a 12.5 Hz pulse output, given C11 = 1uF, R44=1.5K, R42=47K, the R45 100K trim pot with its wiper tied to one end or the other of itself, must be adding an additional...

Fascinating analysis, lasermaster1977. Give me some time and I'll 'scope out the nodes on my working circuit and see what corresponds to what you said. Kevin: The clock pulse is mostly up, and goes down for a narrow pulse to ring the circuit. You're sure your clock pulse looks good? I sort of...

It can be helpful to understand circuits like this by first breaking down the whole into its parts and analyzing what each part is contributing to the rest. The 555 is configured as an astable multivibrator (pulse generator) and according the the schematic its frequency is tuned to about 12.5 Hz. ...
