Congrats Kevint! Nice image results, too. Many times it is just the simple things. You couldn't use the 555's output directly as a blanking signal since it is 0-15v. Some some down scaling and buffering would be needed to get down to a 0-5v signal. But, I don't recall what you are using for...

Belive me, if anything generated visible light at any practical power level in a transverse discharge, prior to the practical blue laser diode, it would have been on the market. Neon generates exceptionally weak visible pulses in a transverse discharge, so do some very exotic excimers....

I'm primarily looking for cylindrical lenses to build a telescope to expand the beams from individual laser diodes. For that, I need short concave lens and longer convex lens, for eg. -4mm and +40mm. Additionally, I need (preferably M9) collimators for the diodes, but I found a few options here.
