My approach from the beginning was to create my own set of data types in C++. Since each and every aspect of a frame_set is made of C++ classes (objects) each one can have a set of functions and overloaded arithmetic operators defined on it. So apart from the actual data itself of each frame in a...

Determining where to start and stop a laser scanned, rendered line drawing that has blanking between line segments has always been the challenge and the 'artful' aspect. The more line segments the harder and more complicated the task at hand. The bigger the "jump" between segment end-points and...

That looks really nice, Adam! Can't wait to see some "action videos". The size of my "original box" was dictated by how large of a diameter hole my drill press's sliding-arm circle cutter could cut. I would agree that the bigger the "box" the more exponential the work to make it is, along with...

Something else that comes into play is where to start. You have to start somewhere, so for the first frame in a set, I thought the end of any lit segment that is closest to the origin. But once you have committed to that, then it's a matter of what is closest to the other end of that lit segment...

Hi Adam From what I could tell from singlemode's stream, SELEM was an incredible event, so I'm planning to attend next year's event, if'n the creek don't rise. Is there a site where we can find uploaded videos of this year's event? Thanks to all who are willing to share.🙏 😎

Indeed. You are essentially trying to solve the traveling salesman problem over and over with each frame, in real time... (And of course, the traveling salesman problem is NP-complete.) So, yeah, it's already a computationally-intensive problem, even before you start thinking about advanced...

Another SELEM has come and gone! If only I had gotten more sleep... I finally unloaded my gear last night. I was just too tired to do it on Monday. (I thought this stuff was supposed to get lighter now that we're all using diodes - sheesh!) Thanks again to everyone who helped...

I build one of these for my son (Dan) last fall and gave it to him as a Christmas present. I've been meaning to put up a post detailing the construction process, but I haven't found the time. Here is a picture of the completed project: Direct link: https://i.imgur.com/dDmqG0a.jpeg I...

I don't remember seeing fringing like that on any of my Plutos. It's almost got to be contamination on the lens. Here is a side-by-side shot of two Plutos: On the left you have 463 nm blue and 520 nm green, and on the right you have 445 nm blue and 532 green. No fringing on either...

I watched this at SELEM this year, and I was really impressed. I guess I didn't know what to expect going into it, but I very much enjoyed the documentary. I think most laser enthusiast's have at least a vague understanding of what Laserium was, but this film dives deep into the history of...

Both I and Dale have the isotopic neon and helium. Start with Dale and then call me if he cannot help you. Looking at a 132 picture, the advice of dropping in a new tube is a bit more appropriate, due to the way the soft mirror seals are sealed on a glass tube with the flat ends precision ground...

Thanks Ron, That is more than enough. This amplifier is a work of art. The output topology is amazing. What more can I say, I stared at the schematic for a full hour and then said a Prayer of Thanks for the beauty! I shipped a little something surplus to Greg. He's going to need quite a...

Not practical. Waaaaay cheaper to just replace the laser with modern He-Ne, and keep the old heads in a display cabinet (with cover off?).

The guys in R&D were developing those after The Beatles show premiered. Ivan brought Sam M. in as president, and Sam negotiated the Beatles licensing deal. Looking back that was pivotal time for Laserium, but Sam didn't have the slightest idea what Laserium was about, was profoundly hard of...

Steve: I sent an email before I saw your previous post. Wow! TheHermit: I think that's pretty much about it, yeah. There is no ADAT involved anywhere on my plate of spaghetti, and the ILDA block in my current setup just means single ended to differential amplifiers, nothing to do with ILDA...

I have a friend who purchased a couple he-ne's that have some historical interest. One is a SP 132, the other is a SP 134 (he says; I haven't seen them). The tubes flash on and off. He says they have outgassed and need to be regassed. Is this possible? If so, who can do it and what's involved...

If I'm understanding correctly, Greg is able to decode the ADAT signals into digital control voltage variables within his BELA code, which are then routed to the appropriate functions, like size, symmetry, position, etc. If so, then those same functions can 'Map' the incoming voltage levels to...

Thanks for the reply. I managed to sort it out by reading the oppositions product manual. There are 9 pages of saved text which start at page 0 not 1 as you would expect if there is no text in page 0 the unit will not display and after programming pages 0 - 9 you have to set the play time for each...
