It is either a spark gap (all electrodes used) or capacity coupled on one side and lights when RF high field is present. Argon suggests it's a spark gap. Neons used to be used with one electrode grounded to glow in a high RF field in vacuum tube transmitters. One or the other., Steve

We are looking at maybe opening in a second Planetarium and putting a second (grass roots) laser system together. OPT lasers has a "grating disk" box for sale, but I was wondering where you might have purchased your commercial unit? Thanks in advance.

I have a synrad rf60 power supply that inside has something like glass bulbs that emit violet light light like plasma when laser pulses. bulbs have 2 wires that are shorted and the 1 wire is soldered to pcb(excited by rf ? not dc) The problem is that not all these bulbs light some not glow up...

You should look at the TMC2209/TMC2130 stepper drivers, pin compatible to the A4988 drivers but do up to 1/256 microstepping and are silent due to the StealthChop feature (removes the common stepper whine noise)

Just a heads up. The "one minute" refers to the working time not the cure time. You still need to let the epoxy cure completely before running the galvos. Otherwise the mirrors will move...

Yeah I was using alcohol so maybe that's the problem too to clean them and I was using fingernail polish to try to glue them in so now I have broke both the new mirrors trying to adjust things now that I have the galvo out I've ordered new mirrors and I got a one minute setting JB weld epoxy I'm...

Yeah I freaking tried to fix the mirrors and was trying to adjust it from shooting off to the left and was moving the galvo housing and broke the other mirror so now I have ordered two new mirrors and I was cleaning them with alcohol so maybe that is the problem I have bought some JB weld one...

It also sound like the alignment may be off a little. If it was the X mirror you replaced, it may not be hitting the Y mirror squarely. This can cause some abberations that make the scanner image look fuzzy. Also make sure your mirrors are clean. Try to avoid using IPA (alcohol) to clean optics....

I appreciate all the help. I’m going to check the resistance of each leg, meter all the fuses, probably pull the contactor and clean/grease it. Also, remove an additional set old cam lock connectors that were suspect and severely tarnished.

After all the hype I gave to those DMX to stepper controllers that I posted about previously, I found that once I pushed myself to get a little more comfortable with Arduino coding, it was far cheaper and way more customizable to just use an Arduino. This would require an A4988 motor controller...
