A terrifically illuminating idea that is richly deserving of the award. What a nice set a easily manipulated controls for effective choreography! Nice video and explanation. You get my "Simple Yet Elegant" (SYE) award as well. Congrats.

My mistake. I caused confusion by noting "adjust to 2.5V". What I meant is adjust for the inverted output with zero signal in to be 2.5V, not the potential on the wiper of the pot to be 2.5V. I just measured the wipers for the X and Y circuits and both are slightly below -2V. You are right, 0 to...

So, if you don't care that your circuit yields a 0 to minus 5v result, when the input is at +10v, but when it is as -10v, then what? I took literally that you wanted a 0 to +5v yield.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention this is an inverting thing, because with abstract cycloids who cares. What you described sounds like this actually is that. My thinking involved in the top schematic +-10v to 0->+5v is that two voltages are summed. One is +-10V scaled down with a voltage...

I just had a friend in Cleveland call me about a 8900S CW Ti:Saph, and making it potentially mode lock. Small world. From helping him, I received a new manual. SPs manual has a few tips you may find interesting. Please see attached Spectra manual . The comments on doping and crystal axis are...

Hi Steve, thank you very much for your tips! Especially the paper by Kogelnik has really helped me, I have now redeveloped the resonator to a three mirror V-shape with the correct angle for astigmatism correction, for me its 8.8. For testing purposes, I have also replaced the OC with an HR,...

In reference to the top schematic: I don't see how your +-10v to 0->+5v converter schematic is going to work that way it is drawn. It's output will not always be unipolar with the scaled down plus and minus 10v signal swings. When the input is +10v the opamp output will be -1.75 +(-2.5) or...

... had different optics with plastic- or glas-lenses from old laser printers, which weren't AR coated, so could be used for UV too, but had to adjust the collimaton for the diode to match the f-theta-FL to get a focal plane, as the FL is different than for NIR ... was a bit "tricky" though ......

I'm thinking how to get these shows up and performable / recordable / editable / watchable with as little hardware building as possible. With the scheme given in the attached graphic, one would need their choice of cycloid generator, 4 Bela units, 4 ILDA capable projectors, a couple of joystick...

For those who have HBOmax streaming service, they have added what appears to be substantially all of the Warner Brothers cartoons going all the way back to 1931. Many are black and white and some employ the first color film technology that only allowed gray scale and shades of only two colors,...

    0. Read any A. E Siegman lately? Dr. Siegman was a cool mentor, trust me on that. Dr Kochner has some cool books on Solid State Lasers, that are a must read. 1. Have you calculated if you have a stable, low astigmatism resonator with Kogelnik et al. (1972) Astigmatically compensated cavities...

Here's a video link to audio synced 351 RYGB sizes mapped to LEDs, and the red gain imposed on a live 6B cycloid. It is most unsatisfying that I had to remove Twist And Shout from the audio in order for the video not to be blocked. Was beam torquer an offset to the colormod signal? Or was it a...

Yep, your comments are the direction I'm heading and then some. Automated imaging is cool but not as cool as automated imaging with some human real-time augmentations. That said, I should have video'd this demo at a higher frame-rate, this was done at 30fps and some flicker is evident. Don't...
