I have another post where I'm looking for a Standalone ILDA controller, but failing that, I'm open to a full projector that has the capability to run *without* a computer. i.e. something that has built in memory or an SD card slot to store the shows LaserCube type system would be an example....

hello Adam thanks for the very comprehensive answer. Actually my english is scholastic, but I use a lot of google translator :o Your circuit is also very interesting, thanks. I have not yet implemented an ILDA card in my projector, I am using FB4 with its features. FB4 already has a PWM output...

The C=64 SID chip was pretty cool, and it still enjoys a loyal following today. There are companies that have built small Synth rigs around that chip, and you can still buy them today. (They are expensive though - much more than a used Commodore 64!) It's really crazy to hear some of the...

Is that the correct style doorknob? I seem to remember the one that Ryan was using for the Laser Spectacular show had a lot more facets... Honestly, $80 isn't all that bad. I didn't think they were even making these things anymore... Adam

Hello David; Thanks for sharing your experiences. Many people here followed a path similar to yours. I've been fascinated with lasers since the mid-to-late 1970's, but it wasn't until the early 1990's that I could afford to purchase one, and it's only been in the last 15 years or so that I've...

A small update: before I can justify spending a fortune on the 352nm laser, I want to be sure that it would be able to cut transparent scotch tape. So far, it's the most difficult material in the mix. Since true UV lasers are expensive, no matter wattage, I had to resort to UV LED light to test...

I think the point of this thread has been lost a little bit...lol Not trying to piece together my own system out of sound cards, etc. - AFAIK standalone/SD player systems already exist, so not looking to reinvent the wheel :) Just looking to see if anyone has a standalone system/SD card...

What do you mean by ILDA control standards? I think most of the SD card Chinese work with ILDA files. There are no ILDA compliant DACS as far as input goes except for IDN network DACS. The output is pretty standard across everything. Basically +-5v differential. Granted the Chinese things might...

You can do this with a Raspberry Pi and a modified USB sound device + correction amp. I guess the learning curve is high, but it shows you what's going on. You do need to have a model of how things work in your head, I suppose. You import an ILDA frame set and you output a LaserBoy wave file....

Thanks JohnYayas! We definitely think the same way, as I already thought to check Alibaba for either a projector I could canibalize for the controller OR the controller components themsevles. Unfortunately, not much luck with either route. I think they use non-ILDA control standards and that...

I think RIYA might have one but I haven't heard from the lately. Not sure if they are still in business. There are a bunch of chinese laser projectors with SD cards and DMX. You might be able to check alibaba and find a source for the controller portion of the projector or just buy the cheapest...

Thanks for the reply, but I think those controllers require a computer? I have a Moncha Lite controller right now, but looking for something I can dump the files onto (most have an SD card), so that the system can run standalone without a computer.

You could try the Helios DAC. There are few options cheaper. About the cheapest is Laserboy and a modified sound card but the learning curve is exceptionally high and Laserboy doesn't really allow for live control during a show or event.
