That's a great starting point. I'll post results. My one second memory of a certain lick in this song: There is the spiral ramp, on joystick rotation. There is no gain on the image source, so we have a dot streaming repeatedly in one direction. A diffractive scan glass produces a field, so the...

I went to some AI image generator thing and typed, "Design a logo for the South East Laser Enthusiast Meeting." and received the following. For the second pic, I simply added, "in Delaware." Thought it was quite interesting so I wanted to share! *retardo

A quick check on the show chronology page @ laserium.org shows Rock a Roll as the final number in six different shows beginning with Laserock II in 1980. I vaguely remember it. Definitely wasn't animated in 1980. I'm thinking a funky spiral number playing FM gain with a slow cycloid freq? It's all...

Thank you, Ron. I always enjoy seeing alternate imaginings of the imagery for such a well known song. The PIN document you provided for Laserock Platinum, which has rock and roll as the finale, mentions triggering diamond spirals. There would not have been any of the animation seen the the CSDL...

Greg, Unfortunately, I don't think the spiral was used at all during Rock 'n Roll. It was a completely animated number. I guess that someone was just playing with the controls when it was being recorded. Download the video below and you'll see no spirals at all. This was the CSDL version of the...

Here is a demo of the spiral generator with all six control input features working reasonably correctly, as far as I can tell. rock and roll https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaXHj5reCjk Some flattening asymmetry is seen when the spiral sweeps left, which still needs investigation. Here's a...

Bradford and restraint go together like Democrats and Republicans! :D The other problem he has is that both the angel and devil on his shoulders tell him "Buy it!" Yeah, the drivers are in sets of 5 but seriously, that's a little over $2 apiece after taxes. Not bad considering the...

Cool! You know... back in the day, I would have ordered 5 motors and 5 drivers already which would then arrive and languish in a box in the storage unit for years because eventually "that day" would come when I laughably believed I was going to build a lumia rig. I show SO much more restraint...

Hey, lumia painters! Thanks to some inspiration from Brian (Laserist) in another lumia thread, I tried out some gear reduced stepper motors that were microstepped using an A4988 driver, set to 16th steps. I was amazed at how smooth the lumia pattern moved when I was running the stepper at about...

Good choice. I got it to play with but 10mW at best and no filter on the IR. Cool color but not yellow! I'd love to see 100mw or so of direct inject 575~580 but nearer to 575nm. That would be awesome. I am trying to remember what other lines the orange HeNe's would put out. I know they were...

you might try skewing the crystal in the cavity. The focus of the gauss point in the beam might walk a tiny bit and that might fix it just by moving the point of focus in the crystal. It likely will drop output power a little too. I'm thinking this might select a slightly different phase and or...

Of all the modern blues, 445 is the ugliest, and I mean UGLEE... lol. I could never stand it. 462~465 is not bad but I am with you, 473 is the best blue in the post ion era. Still a deep blue color without any mistaking for violet but just shy of a sky blue or cyan. It's the reason I still have...

I had always considered 445nm violet to start. 457nm was considered violet and 473 blue in the argon days. my favorite pallet even if not the most efficient 660 577 543 488 473 445. Six lines that give you nearly any mix you could want. 543 is my choice for green. It’s a beautiful emerald...
