Often I find that the uncluttered, unconscious mind is a better problem solver than while cluttered with sensory stimuli. I go to sleep with an unsolved mystery and the mind automagically connects the dots for clarity to become realized during moments of wakening. This morning, my subconscious had...

I will try the pulsating orb effect and pulsating square. The motor - I have a rotating turntable mirror base and there i am rotating the crystal horizontaly. You can feel the rotation on the wall how the effects are moving to the left or right.

You're very welcome. I enjoy sharing my experiences and suggestions with others. With your OTC crystal, I would start with a simple circle and play with the vertical and horizontal sizes to enable manual control the lumia shapes, and modulate the colors. If LaserShowGen is capable of creating...

The 1064 I tore down at my former employer had two pump diode modules that needed to be very tightly cooled or heated to bring them into the pump band, combined by a polarizing prism. Massive array electronics on the board. There were numbers hand painted on the pump modules where the factory...

Hi, I purchased a few of those laser heads recently and I'm looking how to drive them correctly. The cavity has an output photodiode, a connection to pump diode and 3 TECs: for the nonlinear crystal, for the whole cavity and for the pump diode. I drove the LD with roughly half the maximum power...

Indeed, it is a laser show, quite rich also. I will try with more basic repetative patterns. Thank you. This one crystal is very good for lumia effects, I think. It is also quite interesting how the colors are mixed. It is a DPSS laser projector with full analog modulation, i think a very good...

Lots of interesting random lumia going on all at once. Looks like you're scanning an image, perhaps with audio modulation. With lumia, sometimes less is more. Perhaps you could gain more predictable control by applying a smaller, simpler, slower moving image and observing what happens while moving...

That's what I expected to see with the slowly expanding/contracting circle. 🤔 Slight misunderstanding. I meant a circular array of dots, more like your digital circle, but with fewer dots, also slowly expanding and contracting around the center of the dimple. Thanks for explaining how the...

I am also creating this ionised gas effect with some of my czech glass crystals, that will squeeze and elongate the laser lines in unpredictable ways. It is also filled with water( less than full ) : https://youtube.com/shorts/woxw8bkjLSU?feature=share

I haven't unpacked my gear or thought about lasers following February's show but this thread inspired me to. I put up a video that shows the optical path including the dimple and the wheel. It's not quite the effect I remember from the 1980s. There was a veil like jellyfish shape that had waves...

... I'm making "serious stuff" R&D since maybe 30+ years ... since then most "critical" stuff is made at home, as I have all sorts of "DIY" machines from CNC-milling, laser-engraving, paste-dispensing, micro-assembly, (stereo) microscopy ... and even some "nanotech"-stuff ... at home - But only...

My Day job stuff, having gone from if I need it: A. Full DIY manual shop access, B. Have a Machinist make it to my drawings, or C. send it over to an 8 station CNC shop, to having just a Sears Belt Sander, Hand Drill, Micro drill Press, and Tabletop Drill Press at the new job. The production...

Still such a great movie! I am right there with you about laser sintering. DMLS has always intrigued me. I'm curious the price per print with metal powder and also with inert gas. 3D printing can be fun though. I know you'll enjoy it. As for designing, I'm not that great at it but I get...
