Hello guys
I,m thinking of developing my own DPSS driver for powering green modules up till 5 watt. Does anyone know what a pumpdiode from a 5 watt green needs in terms of
voltage and current? *vigil
If anyone has some info to point me in the right direction that would be great.*retardo

well, if you had a 10W 808nm pump diode that would be like 2V @ 11A
Thanks Flecom, Thats a start at least. :) Lots of laserist are at the UKLEM so hopefully people there also see this post and they might have some info to on this matter.
why don't you check with solarfire? he is already working on a diode driver with dual channel tec (cooling and heating times two) and data logging
i believe that this is targeted to dpss applications.

If you are planning to build your own green, i suggest you sort out the crystals, optics first and cavity design, as the driver and tecs is the easy part.
then again, if you only want to exchange the driver on existing dpss modules, are you sure it is worth it?

It,s only for a replacement of the drivers that come with the chinese greens. I don,t have plans to build my own greens.
I contacted solarfire already but he was quite busy so didn,t have time to work on the development of his driver.
If anyone knows what a 5 watt green pumpdiode need in terms of voltage and current then i have some info what the driver should be capable off. Thanks for the info any way.
i have to ask again, do you think it is worth it?
modulation will not improve and if the dpss head does not have two tecs, then i can't see much benefit from this.
is it just for space saving?
I thought it was worth to spend thousends of euro,s of the development of my own lasermodules. That resulted in a kit for hobbyists and my own stacking system. So yes i think its worth it;)
The problem is that if you have 5W of output I don’t think that 10W of 808nm pump will bring 5W of output. That would be amazingly good conversion efficiency.Quote:
