Looking for high power >4w 50x125 micron visible spectrum low loss fiber. Attachment 47654

Have to fix old Zeiss retinal surgery Argon setup with broken delivery fiber. Attachment 47655
Have tried splicing but outer core too hard to strip and fiber just breaks (again!)! Attachment 47653
Anyone know where I can get direct replacement ? :question:
I have heard somewhere that outer core can be "softened" to make it easy to strip but can't remember where! Attachment 47656

... I'm 'cleaving' the broken 0.1mm-fibers of 975nm-pump-diodes with output powers of 9Watts or 25 Watts - it's as simple as scarify(?) the fiber with a super sharp blade (extracting them from multi-blade shavers) and then snap the fiber ... if it's not even/clean enough, then I'll repeat this again ...

Ping me, if you'll want a piece of the 0.1mm-975nm-fiber or from the 1070nm-fiberlaser-fiber for testing ...

Thorlabs makes nice high power fibers on demand. So does Precision Projection Systems in Ceritos, Ca.

Who made the Ophthalmic System and What Model? my medical repair friend may have a used or new fiber in stock...

I have a big stash of 50, 100 and 200 micron PPS fiber leftover from the '80's if you think a piece of that would work for you? Is PPS still in business? A butane lighter was always a part of my repair kit for removing the cladding. I would light it on fire long enough to soften the cladding, then blow out the flame before the heat could damage the fiber. There may have been a better way (precision strippers) but this worked for me.

It's been a long while.....*vigil...thanks for pointer, but I have already been down that route, got referred to Germany...10 emails later, sorry no stock of "old fibres" ... maybe a distributor somewhere has one.!
Really nice people involved but no light at the end of the tunnel.:(

Zeiss as a company is only interested in new diode systems !:eyeroll:
