Sine Cosine Potentiometer

For all you analog heads out there that refuse to sell out to digital! *retardo

Thought I'd share a pretty cool device I found call the Sine-Cosine Hallpot Resolver. Just feed it +5V and you get a perfect sine/cosine output.

Expensive little guy but built really well. There are no internal contacts to wear out, just a magnet and a couple coils of wire.

They get used in synchro/resolver systems a lot. Used to be used a ton in old military fire control systems.

I've heard of a couple different uses, not many, which is why they are so expensive due to so little demand. They are a perfect solution for a project I've been working on though.

Those guys are only about 30 miles from me

I have some sin cos pots. Used in early analog X,Y,Z vector rotator circuits.

I've seen resolvers used on servos in industrial control, helpful to determine rotation direction and speed. Good stuff!
