I have been here for almost a year IIRC. I don't think I ever did make a formal introduction.
My name is Ben Steigerwald, I'm 16 years old and a Sophomore in high school. I live in Cupertino, CA. I got into the laser hobby partly through my father, he is the R&D Director at Lumileds.
Other then lasers, my hobbies are Downhill MTB. I am the machinist for our school FIRST robotics team 115. And I enjoy SCUBA diving locally in Monterey.
Greetings Ben, & Merry Christmas!!
Must be cool to have a Dad that can provide technical support for the hobby while you're still in high school!!
He provides more of the physics part instead of the electronics. For example why the diode has the voltage it does instead of how to wire said diode. But yes, it's nice to have him around. Several of his engineers at Lumileds came from SDL and Melles Griot so I get a lot of info and help from them.
Hi, Ben, great to hear that, I think you would be Bill Gates in Laser field,:)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
