Personally I'd also wait for a few more opinions before pulling the trigger and just make sure everyone is in agreement as others may have differing opions on this. Certainly I'd say that if you thought that you needed 1.8W its a big drop down to what you're now proposing especially when 0.8w of less than 1.2w will be blue. You're dropping from an original 800mw of red/ green to just 370mw in your new proposal. Just depends what you want it for but that is a big drop at these lower powers.

500mW green532
170mW red637

From what i've read i will need a higher power 637nm, but i want that projector now and i dot have the money for the entire parts. But I plan on upgrading the with a cube BS and adding another 637 to correct the ratio. to maybe:

800mW blue 445
500mW green532
520mW red637


I fthe blue is not high enough i will replace and install my M140 diode to get above 1W

anyway.. i will still be able to balance teh color with teh app in Quickshow:)

As for the room in the box, i will have enough and will still keep good airflow.

so with a ratio of

800mW blue 445
500mW green532
520mW red637

would it be good from your experience?

With 800mw 445, 500mw 532 you might only need around 340mw 637. I'm afraid that without anyone who's played with these powers to confirm, I can only estimate based on my projectors stated rather than actual powers, but I wouldn't be surprised if with 500mw 532, 340mw of 637 might be enough as I have to turn my red a long way down to eg get orange in a fan rather than another shade of red, or taupe rather than white. However, as I explained above the wildcard is I don't know what my red is actually making only the stated value so I could just be turning it down to tis stated value! Impossible to know without a power meter.

If you could afford 340mw 637, it might be worth trying. Just check with Winnie if there's a way of combining another 637 diode or another 637 module if you found you needed it.

Like I said as well, try and get others opinions as you may well get differing views or someone else on here might have tried combining 637 and 445 and 532 with sources of known power. Edison makes projectors using these modules so it might be worth PM'ing him for his view on the ideal ratio of 637:532.

I don't want to mislead you on such a crucial decision as my experience with 532 vs 637nm is based on unconfirmed powers.

Sounds good. Be interesting to see how the 637 holds up to the other powers. My inclination is to think you're low on it at 170mw, but it could be surprising. I know with my own 637 I turn it down massively, judging from the amount of turn on the dial, probably by 1/2, maybe more, to hit the balance point at which all colours look correct, and yet the red on its own still looks very bright. I'm sure 170mw is a single diode so it should be possible to combine something later if you needed it.

DT40's are a good choice of scanner. Many people on here rate them.

Don't overthink it too much is my opinion.

Aim for somewhere in the region of 1:1:1, but a heavier on the blue is no problem, as is a bit less on the red (as budget usually dictates this anyway)
Aim for 20% variation on that, and you'll still be just about bang on it. fretting over a few mW here or there won't make any difference in what you see.

E.g. I'm thinking about a couple of new projectors and planning:
445: 1000mW
532: 800mW
637: 680mW

In reality the green will end up more than the rated 800mW, whilst the diodes will be about their stated power.

P.S. waste of time on mixing the 660nm, as at that power i'll be completely washed out by the 637. I've never looked at my 637 and thought 'too orange'.
