Interesting?? they did not tell you they use a water based flat paint?? nothing special..

when you say degradation is that in measurements or in visual of the sensor area?

Most basic sensor coatings start with carbon black. And carbon based flat black krylon works just fine.
The secret is the binder. A few coatings are sputtered on in a vacuum. Its not critical. My operational PM gets recoated as needed with a sooty flame from a cigarette lighter and the readings do not deviate more then .1% from the standard PM I never allow to be burned. A few minutes on the patent server and a google for "optical flat black" will tell you all you need to know without bugging Jerry to death.
But if you do not recoat them right the paint flakes right off at the past burns and scratches. And ethically you have to tell the customer you recoated them.
