Steve, I don't know what I did to warrant this. I kinda though you and I got along quite well at the event. Care to elaborate?Quote:

You know, I saw plenty of those folks at SELEM. Take me for example, the projector I have is a culmination of 13 years and 8 previous projectors to "invent" the one I currently have. And, the effects projector that I brought, did that not look completely like a do-it-yourself kinda projector?Quote:

I don't know what to say, I was completely shocked to have read this post last night, much of it deleted now except for what I've reposted...
Dude, I thought you had the best technology there in many ways, the compact argon supply using 337s was genius, as was the relays, so WTF?
please remember my comments about your stuff on the mirror ball.
BTW, I dont drink cause my family has a horrible history of NOT being able to handle it, ask me in private some time about the number of times I've had to disarm a family member (both mom and dad) when I was a teenager, so if that stiff baptist no party attitude makes me a ^%$#, so what. The alternative aint so pretty. One thing you gotta know about us engineer types, we're always on duty regardless of if we like it or not, and we all contain little frustrated teachers. There are lots of ways to have fun. Besides my BP meds are bad enough without the alcohol mix, in my case it could be lethal.
stay around Steve-O
Steve
Well I deleted the quotes in the post above, perhaps it was in poor taste for me to repost what he retracted. I hate the see the melt down like that, I though just about everyone had a good time. I know I did. Well steve-o if I offended you in any way I apologize. Hate to see you not come back to this forum as we have a pretty darn good group of folks here from around the world. Best of luck to you.
Well, to get this back on track, I started capturing the video I took. Should be about 3+ hours of Saturday. It is all "screen" graphics though really. That and a lot of "Crap" set up and our conversations. May have to get a waiver signed by everyone so I can upload it...
Steve-o, if you don't want that software/dongle, sell it on eBay and think about what quazar said about the analog box. I wish we sould have hooked up "guy's" while we were there. The software you got is worth a couple to a few hundred. It should be able to fund a nice chunk of the rest of a beam box projector.
Adam, I showed my dumb ass by bringing my projector... It was my dumbass that wired the thing in the first place. :o and everything was cool by Sunday morning with the girlfriend; Saturday night when I got back to the Trott House was a little rough for a while... but I survived.
OK guys and gals....here is the vid.
Link..................http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...46001148&hl=en
Thank you DZ for allowing us to check it out. If there are any problems in showing this I will promptly remove it. Sorry for the quality. My cam is not the best of and it had to be converted to mpeg after it was digitised. I think that is where things got a little fuzzy. It is a long one so be warned!!
Cool! Something for me to do until I get to leave work. :D Then I can go home and work on my SELEM video... Maybe you can watch mine while you are at work. ;)
I am sure yours is of better quality........my cam is old and has spots burned in th CCD. Dunno from what..........
Heh, mine has many more pixels burnt... and you know what from. http://photonlexicon.com/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif One tip though... Turn off auto focus. :D That is the big lesson we learned from FLEM.
Everyone,
I don’t know what to say. Sometimes I’m just not right. Apologies to Steve and Dave; you are both great guys, and anyone else I’ve offended. The non-drinker comment wasn’t even meant for you Steve, I think you’re brilliant and Dave, yes your projector was a work of art. I’ll go lurk in the shadows for a while, now. Sorry Y’all for that post. I was having a bad night. You can ask my wife how I get sometimes. She’ll attest to the fact that I probably need professional help..heh..
steve-o, apology accepted. Several of us have been a bit worried and figured there must have been something going on we didn't know about. Hey man, we all have some rough times now and then and do things we later regret. Anyway, my point is, don't go lurking in the shadows, you are still very much welcome here. I don't know what we'd do without ya! I certainly hope whatever had you down the other day has gotten better now? Stick around pal, there's more fun to be had here!
Same here!Quote:

My girlfrind says we can't afford the professional help I need...
Hehe -Thanks:).................................
Steve o I sent you a PM let me know if you want the parts....I will need an address to ship them to. I have to work in the morning so I will be going by the post office...I can drop them off and you would have the by Tuesday....Let me know....
Hayden sent me all the pics he took at SELEM. I've uploaded them to my gallery, complete with captions. Most of the pictures are of the people that were there and the equipment that was set up; I'm still looking for some good beamshow pics.
I haven't finished labeling my pictures from Day 1... Should have those up later tonight or tomorrow. My Day 2 pics are lost; the SD card I saved them on is completely fried. (Thanks Rob, for trying to help with that utility...)
My video will have to wait until I can borrow a High-8 deck to digitize my footage, since my camcorder is also broken. (Damn - what are the odds of having 2 camera failures at the same event?)
Anyway, here's the link to the gallery. Enjoy! http://photonlexicon.com/gallery/selem07
Adam
Uh -I dont know right now.. It;s been a loooong week and im going to be d now ...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I got all my footage off my DV cam last night. It is about 30 gigs in AVI format. I'd like to get all the "shows" together and uploaded in a smaller format. Adam would you prefer to have any of the AVI?
Hi Aaron;
I'd like the raw AVI's if you don't mind. I can pick them up when I come to Florida next.
Glad you like the pics. Hayden has a nice camera, doesn't he?
Adam
PS: G'Night Steve-o! Glad things are better now...;)
Very nice action pix Adam...thanks for posting what I missed..
Steve R looked like he was in his element for sure..
Bill is nothing but smiles, obviously doing what he does best..everyone else looked like they were all having fun.
cool to see a faces to go with all the messaging finally.
Steve-O welcome back...I missed all the excitement it seems.
Wow,..Adam got a new tube for the beast..thats wonderful..be careful.
Hopefully the Doc will have my herniated disc fixed by next meet
Heh, Im on new meds triple the dose this time...
Hi!
Great to see the pictures of the SELEM 2007, and to see some faces the forumnames belong to.
But... well.. How can I say this a nice way... YOU ARE ALL SO DAMN OLD:D
Hey... HEY!!! http://www.technfun.com/smilies/thinking.gif

LOL!:D
I'm only 19 and most other people working in the sound and light industry are also quite young (well... in the Netherlands). But, maybe that's different for laserists.
Buffo / Adam, I want your shirt........
How much? ;)
I just checked out Adam's gallery postings - cool!
MOST of you guys are "old" like me!!
Looks like it was a great event.
Hopefully I'll be back on that side of the world for the next SELEM !
:D
Hehe... You like that one eh, Aidan? It's the most colorful tie-dye shirt I own. My mother gave it to me for Christmas last year. It says "Peace, Love, and Sandy Feet" on the front. She bought it in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.
I never used to wear colorful clothes when I was younger, and wouldn't be caught dead in a tie-dyed shirt. But now that I'm older I find I sort of like them. I usually wear something colorful on the first day of an event like that so that people can find me in the crowd. I guess it worked, eh? :D
Allthat; there's nothing wrong with getting old dude... It happens to all of us, and there are some fringe benefits that come with age. (For me, it was finally being able to scrape together enough money to build a projector!)
And JeroenVDV - yeah, we're old, but we can still party like college students! You should have seen us at the pre-SELEM party on Friday night at the Artist's Cafe... We consumed an AMAZING amount of alchohol! Sure was a great time though, wasn't it guys? ;)
Adam
Good point, Quazar!
I gotta admit, we certainly didn't slow down that night before SELEM! Dinner was at 6 PM, and I'm guessing that by 7 we were finished with dinner and had moved into the lounge area. That's when the cigars came out. Then more rounds of drinks. Then came the shots of Tequilla. Then the "cement mixer" for Aaron's girlfriend. (Of course, I had to drink one too, because otherwise she would have known something was up.) Hope you didn't catch too much flak for that one, Aaron! (Damn, it was funny though!) Then more rounds of drinks, more cigars, more Tequilla.... Repeat until midnight!
Whew! What a party! (So when do we do it again? I'm open next weekend...) :D
Adam
Next week http://lyrics.rare-lyrics.com/i/s/dead.gif I think it'll take me a month to get over that one..:)
Chuck, I have a few http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/imag...ies/drinkn.gifafter work sometimes, log on and make an ass of myself (repeatedly) so I'm going to put a safety lockout switch on the pc and ask my wife to hide the key..;)Quote:
Steve-O welcome back...I missed all the excitement it seems.
http://www.technfun.com/smilies/icon_tequila.gif
I'm not sure she remembers the cement mixer... ;)
1000th post... whooo huuuu!!! http://www.technfun.com/smilies/icon_nuke.gif
Adam, I added some safety labels on my argon laser after the 'incident'
HAHAHA!:D That should prevent any more dumb asses from loosing their fingerprints by grabbing that resistor like a handle! (Gee, I wonder who the idiot was that did that... )
Not to worry. It didn't even leave a scar. Reminds me of a joke a blacksmith once told me though:
Guy walks in the blacksmith shop and picks up a horseshoe. Little did he know that it had just come out of the fire and was hot as hell. He immediately dropped it and shoved his hand into his pocket. The blacksmith grins and says, "Hot, wasn't it?" The guy replies through his clenched teeth: "Nope, it just doens't take me very long to look at a horseshoe!" Riiiiiiight. :D

Adam - sorry bud I should have labeled my rig better..:o
no need steve-o to feel sorry for adam. he would have found something else to hurt himself with anyway. trust me, i have seen him in action-
ummm...
any pics of the laser lights yet?
did miss a post w/ a link?
wes-
you must have missed out, like the moon landing this was just a hoax-
- - Coincedently, they where both shot on the same soundstage in the back of pangos shop-
The idea was to get me to drive all the way there from florida only to find myself in an empty parking lot- i bet buffos camera would have actually worked then-
Boy - ain't that the truth! Remember FLEM? I shocked myself not once but TWICE on the power input connector for my projector. The first time could be excused, since I had never tried to pull the ilda cable out with the cord still plugged in. (Even though the switch was off, the terminals on the back of the plug mount were still hot.) But the second time was pure stupidity. I saw Bill Benner rolling his eyes, and all I could do is shrug. Sigh...
There are some pics in my gallery that were taken by Hayden. Here's the link: http://www.photonlexicon.com/gallery/selem07 I'm working on digitizing some of the video I took from Day 1 right now. I should have it ready to upload to google video in a day or so. I did get some nice video of the beamshows... (At last, some good news!) Watch this thread for more info on the videos.
Adam
thanks buffo.
looking forward to them.
Teach me to run a cheap-ass webcam for 3 hours and expect results -
f*cking logitech ..all it was good for was to lockup my pc..http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/imag...r_banghead.gif
Well.. moonlanding it was not..
Fairly cool get-together - definitely was..
I enjoyed the fri party better than the lasers:o naw--scratch that--
They were both cool..
I had to leave early sunday cause my wife was sick..
missed out on day 2..
wish I could see day 2 .. any pics of day2 anyone??
There are a couple of them in my gallery from Hayden's camera. Most of Day 2 was technical work though. Not a lot of lasers. The day two pics start around page three or so, though there are a couple near the end that are actually from Day 1. (All the pics that show the work on the argon laser and the scanners are from Day 2.)
Wait 'till you see the video I've got from Day 1 though. Remember that mirrored ball you brought? You won't believe how cool your red and green lasers look bouncing off that sucker. Even with that bright 1.8 watt projector going, you can still see the beams from your lasers coming off the mirrored ball. Great stuff. Makes me wish we had pointed another projector up at the ball. (I ought to have the video ready to upload in a day or so...)
Adam
The 3+Watt ultra-mini CNI greenie was cool. It lit cigarettes too:) and a pizza box.. any pics of that lil' monster?>:)
No pics, but I do have a video of Johnathan lighting a cigarette with that 3 watt green. I should have it posted tomorrow sometime.
I've also got some video of the beamshows, plus I managed to capture some of the graphics shows. I'm going to break it up into sections and upload it that way. (The raw footage is over a gig, and a lot of it doesn't show much.)
Adam
Cool Adam,
I'm trying to upload one of my orig songs to utube but i have to combine it i guess w/ a vid so now i have to find a lazer vid to combine it with - whes - too much work for a monday
-hey DZ and Steve- sorry for that post eh heh:o
Don't sweat it Steve-o, you still cool in my book.Quote:
-hey DZ and Steve- sorry for that post eh heh:o
Did anyone get video from day 2 with the 660nm 635nm compairison?
I got some of it. It isn't great I was watching bill and half ass recording. I also think it looks A LOT different than what I really "saw". I'll make sure it gets posted. I may have to upload it from work so it will still be a few days.
