i havent really had a problem with it freezing and not giving an error but the times it does stop responding it takes a few seconds and finishes what it was trying.
i noticed that when i had a TON of ilda files in the directory it did this more so i only kept the ilda files i was going to use in the directory.
i have 2 gigs of ram.
Ahh well, must be my craptop then :(

BTW, for the people that havent seen yet, and are using the sound card DAC, have a look at the EzAudDac thread, drlava posted a new driver, and it makes everything ALOT smoother. and I mean ALOT, the difference is very clear ;)
I updated to 1.5.6.3 on my website today.
This update removes the need for .NET 3.0/3.5.
It also includes DrLava's latest sound card driver.
Also removed some test code that was causing RIYA driver to crash.

It works in windows 2000 now that the .net 3 and 3.5 requirements are gone :D
Well, except for the 'more' button, but the driver settings can be changed via the ini file, and usually don't have to be tweaked after everything is set up.

That is a weird error. It all works OK for me. What OS are you using.
Windows 2000 is the only OS with a problem with the more button. See post #56 again. The more button is fine in XP.
OK, thanks for that info. I think there is an issue loading the kernel32 DLL in 2000 to read/write the ini files. I should be able to figure out a work around but considering Win2K is going on 10 yrs old now I won't lose any sleep over it. :)

Yea, you are right. Those are side effects of removing the .NET 3.0/3.5 stuff and replacing it with my own code. LOL. I'll fix that up and put out a new version soon.
Cool :) cos spaghetti is my favourite of all audio dac supporting softwares:) i had some blanking issues with old version, but i scanned test pattern with new version and everything is perfect !.. well except the timeline :) how can i change new EzaudDac driver manually?
There is a Spaghetti Google group that is a good place to post those types of questions. I would like all Spaghetti users to start using it so the everyone can learn from each other's questions and experience. I'd rather not see a bunch of Spaghetti bug reports and questions in PhotonLexicon and I am sure the non-Spaghetti users probably feel the same. I'm not saying this because I am annoyed but I see questions all over the place on here and I can't get to them all.
I upload 1.5.7.0 which corrects the .NET 3.0/3.5 removal bugs. Keep an eye out for any bugs when adding or moving animations around on the timeline and report how to reproduce them if you see any.
Also, DrLava gave me a new sound card driver to include so that is in there. I have not tested it so let me/him know if you see problems with it.
i just tested it out about 5 times and there is no crashing! and all the features work for me! :)

try posting the steps you took to get the error and the exact error.

why is spaghetti not available for download?
If you look on the google group, he's released 1.8.0.0 B6, but he must have found a bug in it, so took down the download untill he fixes it.
Various reasons. One reason is that the file format is in a state of change. It is currently no compatible with past versions and it won't be compatible with the next version coming out. So, I simply just pulled the download so that people don't make projects that won't load in the next release. But ultimately, I am not sure I should give it away anymore. I am not sure how that will play out.

I'm on Spagetti 1.5.6.1.
I downloaded the large directory off here to take a look. When I start Spagetti it stops working almost immediately. I can only presume its having problems handling the large directory of files in the folder. I'm presuming its trying to load the entire 1GB of files, rather than whats in use, and crashing as a result.
I have 4GB of memory BTW, an 8800GT 756mb Graphics card and 6600 Dual Core overclocked to 6900+ and Vista 64. So I'm doubting its a system problem.

That is a very old version. I have made some improvements to handle what you are seeing but it hasn't been fixed completely.
In the version you have, when you select a folder, Spaghetti loads all the ILDA files into memory. Only after they are all loaded will they be displayed. And until then, it will appear to hang. It should EVENTUALLY display them and give control back to you. But, it might consume all of your RAM and force you to run off virtual memory (harddrive) and then your performance truly sucks.
In the current version, they are loaded in a background thread so it doesn't hang. You can tell what has loaded by checking to see if an hourglass is in the little box. But, it still loads them all into memory and you will end up with the same problem as above.
The next step is coming and you can see the beginnings of it by the new tab. One tab is for the current directory and the other is for the project. You now have to add an ILDA file to the project before you can drag it onto the timeline. Soon, I will stop loading all the ILDA files in the selected folder and only load the ones that are in the project. The downside to this is that you won't be able to hover over an ILDA file and see it immediately start animating where it left off. It will still animated but if you move off of it and move back it will start from the beginning. I have not finished doing this because it complicates some things that I won't go into.
In the meantime, you can work around this by having smaller numbers of files in the directories. I'm going to go ahead and bump this issue to the top of my list so that it no longer is an issue. Thanks for bringing it up.
Anyway, the current version is 1.8.0.0 b9. You should try it out. There have been a lot of enhancements and bug fixes since the version you have.
I have plenty of memory - 4GB and all accessible due to Vista 64. I'ev run games that load over 1.5gb into the memory before and don't even see any performance hit.Quote:

i think we are trying to load the same dir its the one from ishow on the ftp
I downloaded at ishow directory. If i select that directory they all load in about 10 seconds.
It may be a wacky file doing it. I recently found that LaserBoy files would crash Spaghetti since they use the wrong format. Try narrowing it down to a file if you can by splitting the directory in half and then into another half, etc. (Binary search). If you can find the file, if it is a file, and send it to me, that would be good.Quote:

Gary, I think there's a bit of a memory leak going on here and its also failing to release memory.
I split the files between 4 folders (not evenly). By the time I got to the 3rd folder's contents having viewed the 1st 2, I suddenly started getting slow downs on the entire PC. I fired up task manager and I was using 3.95GB of memory and 100% CPU in spikes.
The total of the contents of all 4 folders is only 955mb, far less than the 3.95GB being used. Also when I exited the Spagetti, the memory usuage immediately plummeted to 1.1GB. Confirming that Spagetti had been using 2.85GB of memory on around 600-700mb (1-3 folders only viewed) of files.
Thanks for the report. Once I change things to how I explained earlier that won't be an issue.
Are you still using 1.5.x or did you go to 1.8.0.0?
i also noticed the same thing
if you go to the next folder it gets slower and then may fail but if you go to 3 or more it will fail
but if you shut down the program inbetween folder change its fine but still slow
the pc i am using is a dell 1720 laptop core2duo 2.2ghz with 2 gigs of ram

You can view them but you have to have a project open. Either open one or create a new one. The only time that Spaghetti cares about ILDA files is in project mode.
Version 1.8.0.0 B9 seems to be a lot faster on my 1.6Ghz Atom with a gig 'o RAM.
Strangely enough, even my analog blanking seems to be working better :eek:

I didn't want to make that change but there are strong technical reasons for doing it that way. The main reason is to improve performance by reducing the amount of files that get loaded into memory at one time.
Once you get accustomed to the idea it isn't a big deal, though. Just add all the files you want to use to your project then switch to the Project tab and go from there.
It's one of those compromises that has some bad with the good. But, in this case, the good outweighs the bad.
Good news and bad news.
First the good news. I fixed Spaghetti so you can browse to folders with lots of ILDA files. The IShow folder has over 1600 ILDA files in it and Spaghetti handles it just fine now. Before, it was locking up as was stated on here. Also, the scrolling of the ILDA files in the browser is as smooth as glass now. No flickering or stuttering while scrolling.
Now the bad news. It's no longer possible to hover over one of the little thumbnails and see it as an animated image. If you want to see the file animated you have to click on it and the big preview image will show the animated file. The thumbnails themselves don't animate anymore and I don't think they ever will. A shame since I was really proud of that feature. But like I said before, it's always a compromise when dealing with these types of issues.
