Thanks for the offer Johan but I would really prefer the extra boot of the 826s, always assuming the price is reasonable. >:)
Any idea when the quad kits will be ready for shipping ?
Cheers :)

Not exactly sure but i can confirm that the manufacturing has started. They will be ready soon:)
Almost there guys!!! I have picked up the parts and i assembled one to show how it looks. I have to order some extra grubs so i think i can start with shipping. The topcover is an option but it sure makes a nice finish.*retardo
Excellent! This is the last piece I need holding up my build. :D:D:D
This is great news Johan! *DZ
Do the lenses glue into the barrels or is there an internal thread and retaining ring?
I am still in UK for ten days at least so if they are ready you can ship to my London address.
Thanks!
Cheers :)
I have a few extra in stock but not many. Very happy with the quality from the metalshop. With the topcover its really a complete module. And its great because its flexible in use. Normally you buy a module and its not re-useable so when there are new reds available with this kit you can just swap the boards. If 500mw reds are available then you can swap the boards and build a 2 watter*retardo
I think that its allot better then invest in a red module and then suddenly find out that a manufacturer use 24 640nm diodes in a projector that cost half of your quad module.
Just imagine when green diodes are available
What is the beam exit height on these? It would be nice to get a mount of the proper thickness fabricated so I can get these modules integrated into my projector as quickly as possible.
The kit comes with a baseplate like this:
Because the module has diodemounts you can set in height you can do the stacking of the beams at the height you want. Of course that,s within limits. I will measure the minimum and maximum height for you;)
Well, I finally got mine together and worked out the details on construction. All I can say is VERY NICE! It's very easy to align but took some fiddling with the mirrors to get the beam height and profile correct. I was able to get the output beam about 2X2mm and the divergence is awesome with the Optima lenses.

As for the numbers.... I was able to get over 1W @ 500mA per diode running a FM3 with 5VDC @ 2A. Not Bad! I could crank it up to 600mA per diode but the FM3 requires about 6V and I really like to run my diodes conservative.

I accidentally hit my fiberglass sink for about 30 seconds at about 20 feet, This will give you a better idea of the beam profile from the hole it made... LOL!

Here is the finished module. It will run rock stable for hours around 1,015mW +/- 3mW.

http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...6&d=1275541633 Dammit man; I got four 826 diodes here that need a home just like that... but... http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...0&d=1262150006
Hey Adam, did you use LPC815 or 826 diodes?
I got 1270mW @500mA per diode with G2 lens... Maybe your knife edge setup is cropping more beam than I have. 2x2mm is nice!!!! *retardo
Really?!?!?! That's interesting news. These are the LPC-826 diodes, the knife edging is clipping the beams but I'm using Optima lenses and dielectric mirrors. It could be that I'm loosing 200mW from the knife edging but those are impressive numbers. My module does make around 1.150W when I first turn it on but it roughly settles to 1W after the diode mounts are heat soaked. With that added to the equation, it's about right I guess. I like it tight.
I'm a little hesitant about going to 600mA but I may do it. My LPC-815's have been running happily in my projector outputting 225mW a piece for 2 years.
Adam, i must say i,m impressed with the quality of your build. I like the sollution with the balast resistors. The negative bridge wire is not needed because the brass block already is connecting the diodes together but you can never be to sure;)
A 2x2 beam with 1012mw is a very nice result!!! *retardoBoth the 405g2 lens and the optima lens have a FL of 4 so the beam diameter is the same from 1 diode. Dnar has an higher output but that is with no clipping and the setup from adam has a 2x2 beam and with such a tight beam clipping is nessesary. Also cleaning the mirrors with First contact is will give some more power. I cleaned the mirrors with Purosol but cleaning the mirrors with first contact gives the maximum result. If the beam from adam after stacking is 3x3 or 3.5x3.5 you will see that the output increases.
Because the diodemounts are slidable you can stack the beams like how you want them. With no powerloss with stacking you get a beam of 3.8x3.8. It still fits your mirrors easily so i prefer that. But its just a matter of taste.
For people who want to experiment, you can mount the setup also directly on the baseplate with no tec in between. Rob stanwax tested one of my setups with the same mirrormounts and nothing moves even if things get warm. I also am curieus if there is power drop without tec after having it fired up for a few hours.
Great to see that we are now getting to a point where everyone can have a quad without worrying about allignment. >:)
Finally all your hard work pays off Edison.
Really like the review 300EVIL did there.
Very cool, like the numbers, 2x2mm damn that's TIGHT !
Interested in what TEC you used ?
Excellent work, kudos to both 300EVIL and Edison !
Looking good, well done to you both.
I cant wait to start to build my pair>:)
Then I can start to build my first RGB
Tony
still 2 housings for sale that are the same as 300evil and michelrietveld have so they fit this kit *retardo:

I ordered the screws and grubs today because i was low in stock of the grubs.I didn,t ship anything but i,m planning to make a start in the next few days to assemble them. I also have to check if i have enough circuitboards. Because my cases and a prototype of a new quad blue that is being manufactured as we speak i,m quite busy. :o The case needed a sliding window cover and i made the drawing yesterday. *retardoThere where no screws anyway to assemble the kits. I,m pretty sure the first ones will ship out next week when i have the screws and grubs:)
To make it easy for the misses to make the invoices and not to forget anyone. :o
I would like to ask if everyone can send me a PM with your normal name, PL name and adress and country. Although i send all the kits from the US buyers to Adam i will include the invoices so i need your details. We have most of them but it would be very convinient:)
So if possible please send me a PM with you details. I have started with assembling the kits;)
Gidday!
I don't suppose anyone in Europe has 4x of the Optima lenses going spare ? (Otherwise I'll order direct from them)
And, anyone got a Flexmod ? :P
Kind Regards,
Nige.
I have about 100 pieces but the problem is that i need them myself.:( I have about 25 quad that need lenses so i think its best to order directly from OPTIMA.;)
Hi Edison
Just for your information ,it's free ;): Panasonic "industry" have the same lens on their catalog
Model is :EYLGULF279
Common Datasheet is here:http://industrial.panasonic.com/www-...KB0000CE11.pdf
I think that Panasonic is the manufacturer
Thank you for your outstanding work:)
Olivier
Thanks for the kind words:) Thanks for the info about the lens. I buy them in bigger quantaties and it might be worth cheaking out. ;)
Maybe someone could contact panasonic and see what the price of the lenses in quantity of 100 and 200 pieces. I really have my hands full to get everything organised.
I,m also going to be a week on vacation very soon. Hopefully i can ship them before that.
But everyone needs a vacation sometime and so am i;)
Just a quik update:
I ordered the screws today because i was low on stock. When the screws are arrived i can start assembling them and ship them out. So they will be ready soon;)
Does anyone have an opinion on:
http://search.newport.com/?q=*&x2=sku&q2=KPA010 ?
Probably not the cheapest option...
N.
I have ;) The lens is a Fl 6mm and will produce a Fat beam at aperture. The diameter is also 6.8 that won,t fit the retainers. You need a lens like a 405g2 lens with FL 4mm or the panasonic/optima lens. Adam can deliver the lenses. Send adam a PM.:)
very nice laser! Any news about my order?
The misses is working on it now!!!;)
Just to say mine arrived this morning - although one module appears to have been 'examined' for want of a better word by the UK Border Agency
Lol it's only a dodgy looking package from the Netherlands........
Today my quad modul arrived me! The best quality that I ever saw. Thank you for all! :)
Ok, started building up my quad blue, alll going well so far.... But am i being stupid or is the printed legend for the diodes on the PCB the wrong way round which would mean marking for Anode is wrong?
Just the same like you press my link.... walk this way.... to stick with the RUN DMC theme (my childhood heroes...)
MJ's better !
Con. Don't start...
This is not the time nor the place for your Jackson nonsense. :poop:
(nowhere, past, present or future is BTW...)
This could get messy... :cowboy:
messy?
what like litte kids all over the place ;)
