Oh Boy. As you can tell from the post time, this has been consuming. Just finished the SHG alignment and although the power is a little low (for now) 750mW @ 25% pump power, the beam is other worldly. 2.5 mm @ aperture and 2.5 mm at 11M. The divergence/ beam waist are under my measurement precision! Thermal CONTROL of the KTP is critical and needs to be much less than 1 degree otherwise there is significant power loss.
I am pretty sure we could do it. A modified version of the laser I built ( I now eat, sleep and s**t DPSS) could do this. But sitting here right now I think $50,000 would be fair.Quote:

3. I bought some optics for 1121 nM a year ago, they are a set for a Q-Switched laser. Qswitched does not mean bad things at 20 Khz.
4. I have another way that starts with Green and converts to red, yellow, and orange, or all three at once.
Its not inexpensive, either. It may need licensed, which is always a thorn in the side.

I remember I saw somewhere some simple organic polymer disks with embedded standard dyes and an AR coating for generating orange-reds from green... isn't there some room in this direction?

On one, that will be useful. Nevertheless, the divergence/diameter product is unquestionably in the "lab" class and not typical CN "projector" class.
Lets talk about #3.
I know about #4, but licensed? We need to talk about this too. The modifications that I believe should be made to the current design will involve some ABCD calculations and I know you can do this. But, this may be a little premature as strict thermal control of the KTP is the next priority for increasing output power.
