Preparing for the future, drivers!

This idea (to use the scanner psu) has the right to life, but it's not a good idea for two reasons:
Scanners psu (most often) does not have the power reserve
If, however, you decide to use it, you need to load it evenly, ie use the lower and upper half bridge (-24V and +24 V), but in this case you should use the dc dc converter with galvanic isolation. Otherwise, you may experience collisions and stray currents in those places where you do not expect them. If to continue this idea, the universal solution may be an acdc/dcdc 30-300V converter for the driver :)

I have experience designing miniature drivers for a variety of applications. The flexdrive, boostdrive, N2, and flexmod P3 for a few. For this purpose i've been considering creating a triple channel driver with all the features of the P3, for such a small projector is TEC cooling really any benefit?

For this projector build, what size PCB would be best?

What driver current range is required?

that would be great for little DI diode builds. if each channel went up to an amp, you could drive multiple single mode diodes.

I'm not sure where something goes from 'small' to 'medium' or 'large' but I'm currently planning a pair of new projectors in the 6 to 8W region, using 3x pairs of diodes (445, 638, 520 if its cheap enough in time) but I guess I might want a TEC under that lot, especially if I need to drive the red a little harder (hopefully not if the red developments Planters saw at P west become available in time)

I would be interested to see a driver that can take 48v input
And drop it down , I have a small 600w +- 24v power supply
That I would like to use for builds

Module builders will most certainly.
Having unused channels is a waste of space and money.

I agree with PJ. Although a single board with multiple channels could potentially be more compact, I think what would be the most valuable is a RELIABLE source of a 4A driver. I have drivers from just about every source and I am mixing and matching because of availability not performance.

A single channel would be OK while two or three channels would be a convenience. A dual or even a quad green or blue will draw several amps and using a power supply with a minimum voltage drop such as a 12 V will minimize heating of the transistor.

Is the flexmod so bad? What sense do it again?

I think the flexmod is a great driver, but it can be EXTREEEEEMLY frustrating to obtain. Sometimes you can get them and sometimes the supplier will be non-responsive for an indefinite period of time.
