Thanks Ill try that. The text in page 94 of the manual got me confused. "...keys can be mapped to activate a timeline section in a live show while controls can be used to manipulate the live sliders in the Masterbeam window. Both can be used in expressions."
-
Yes, but only controls are mapped to the midi() expression. Keys are mapped to the key variable. I hope the section about using midi inputs in expressions clears it all up.
-
I see.
I want to achieve a certain effect now, any ideas are welcome.
I can trigger something like brightness or size by a button on my midi controller, but Id like it to be smoother. Right now its either completely on or off. Id like for example if a button is pressed to ease-in the new size. How would you do that with an expression?

Damping!
setdamp(1,1,m127);
result=damp(midi(127), m127)
-
I hope that is the solution. Its a bit confusing at the moment. At least now I understand c in setdamp is a variable you declare in the function itself (expressions are not far from full blown programming...), but still don't get the "resonant frequency" part, which might explain why the expression acts odd to me: for any value lower than 0.5 for a there's a "bouncing ball" effect. I mean the animation curve becomes like this:

And with any value between 0.5 and 1 it's just too smooth (slow)...
Using a fadein or intensity event for testing with min and max values (0,1)

OK so I bought LSX - it's finally here but it doesn't see my DAC at all which is working fine...
I've a Easylase LC USB thing - is there a newer .dll I'm missing? Going to search back a bit
-
Do programs like the ZoofGames that are on the disc work?
-
I've not received the actual disc yet it's still in transit so I only have the downloaded bits from the link I was sent - main prog/ILDSOS/lasercam/inkscape if that's any use?
-
Hi frosty,
sorry to say but the Easylase LC is not supported/recognized so far. Hope that Andrew will fix that (......Andrew, please fix that!).
The regular Easylase works.
-
I have had success - with a nudge from Andrew I replaced the easylase.dll with the jmlaser.dll from the dynamics install and I now have output with my own content and a selection of other files
Looking back it seems this is to do with show encryption as I think I saw CMB had this problem long ago - he's got me to send the dll over so all will be gravy soon I think :)
Now to mash buttons! Thanks for the helps, will post back if a full fix arrives
