I was awake too. Didn’t sleep a whole lot. And... I have the Lasershowparts bits that araugh needs. May also be up for a Cessna ride if time allows.

Adam,
Yeah, the rain was miserable in a few spots. Pouring buckets. Can't imagine pulling a trailer through that.
Only brought a couple ions with me this year, instead of a UHaul van full.
I'll be there to help with load in. Cya a little later.
Brad
Files are ready. where can I send them to?
Hey PJ. Sorry you aren’t here in person. If they are beyond files send them to bradfo69. If they are ILDA files, please send them to me.
Thank you!
David
You can also send them to the PayPal address for selem. (Selempayment@gmail.com) if you wish. :)
Oh my God. Woke up this morning and my back is killing me. That must mean that SELEM is in full swing! Did not quite finish everything we wanted to yesterday during setup. But just a few tweaks this morning and I think we will be good to go. Then I can start thinking about laying out three phase power!
Dinner last night was amazing! Thanks Marc! You rock dude!
Well, it's about time for me to go downstairs, as I do believe the mayor is cooking me breakfast again this morning. :)
Adam
You got mail .......
Good morning all...I'm at the auditorium for the class and see no one...any words.

Wow. That was nothing short of a life-changing religious experience.
And I'm an atheist. :)
I’ll second that to the 15 trillion power. Was actually very hard to leave. Thank you all for welcoming me. Now to cut my two foot high lawn. Reality returns tommorow.
Aaahhh, I was napping during the group photo!
Sorry for the invalid attachment. Not sure what went wrong.
Second try. SELEM 2018 Group photo.

Here are two shaky-cam cell phone videos from last night.

I videoed three other videos on Countfunkula's camcorder, so he'll have to upload those. I think they're a lot less shaky. ;)
Being at work today sucks, miss my laser folks.
After messing with Rick's rig among others, going to have to cave and get beyond essentials at some point. Maybe I'll get lucky and find it on sale.
Here's my group photo:

Excellent pic Swamidog-- great detail and focus--from a drone yes?

So I've been busy with the group picture adding names.
I was able to get all but 6 done. I am very sorry I don't remember everyone's name. Please don't take offense.
Now I am asking for your help. If you are one of the 6 missing names or you know who they are please let me know and I will add them to the picture and repost when I get it updated. I think this will be very helpful for everyone at the least helpful for me handing out name tags next year.
All I need is a shirt color and/or location of someone else near the person in question.
Thank you in advance.
Chris

Thank you all for an incredible few days. I spend most of my time in the world of lasers at a desk dealing with all the things that go into shows, but almost no time with the lasers actually doing what they do. For me the opportunity to come to an event like this and see dozens of very smart, very talented people each with different control methodologies, laser builds and approaches is really restorative and helps put everything else in perspective. It's amazing to just hang back and see some really incredible art being made with these tools.
Too many folks to thank so things are going to get missed, but thanks Adam and Brad for doing so much to coordinate and make the event happen. Thank you to those who bring a ton of gear like Rick, DZ, Brad, Adam, Ethan, and many others. Thank you to the incredible laser artists like Jason, Mike, Chris, David K, David Z, Will, Rick, Newlin and many, many more. Thank you to those who bring things not at all related to laser but still incredible like Hank with his tesla coil, Chris with the quads, Alex with the liquid nitrogen and Kelvin with the insane VR rig. Thank you to the unsung heroes like Bill and Brad and others that spend time taking out trash, helping others move gear and set up/take down, all the stuff that's not glamorous but has to happen. Also thanks to those who jsut took the time to chat like Frank, Adam, Brad, Ethan, David, Chris and too many others to list.
The highlights for me are seeing how many new technologies on both the home build and commercial side there are as well as how many first and second year people came to the event. It's great to have a resurgence in the community like that.
Really exciting stuff all around, thanks for doing this every year. It means a lot to many of us that attend.
I <3 you guys, thanks for another great SELEM, my favorite week of the year
Another great SELEM! Several of us plan our year around this event and I consider it 'sacred time'. Many thanks to all of you who participated in the planning, set-up, break-down, administration, food preparation, funding, presentations, performances, and all-around knowledge-sharing. I think that almost everyone fits into one or more of those roles, these days! Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to speak with everyone this year, and would like to have had more time to spend with everyone that I was able to speak to. It's the same story for me every year . .
From what I saw, pretty much everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and left the event in good spirits. Adam B. and several others had a debrief over lunch on Sunday. Our consensus was that things went pretty smoothly, but there are always opportunities for improvement. To that end, we have some planned tweaks/improvements in discussion for SELEM 13 including my favorite; "nap time" for ~two hours on Friday or Saturday afternoon so people can recharge their batteries a bit. More to follow from Adam and company in the following months.
Thanks again to everyone for making this event the most awesome week of the year!
-David

For lack of any better place to put this.. I know this has been a popular song for the 'Laser Artists of SELEM' (swamidog, Brad, etc).. but this is just too cool to not share:

Just wait until they put freakin' lasers on their heads! :)
Just a reminder,
We gave out two certificates for free C506 with Mach DSP.
I know one went to Neil (icecruncher) but I don't remember who the second one went to...
Neil has already redeemed his with the upgrade option for a set of Saturn 1B and the order was fulfilled within about two weeks, but I haven't heard back from the other winner.
The certificates expire December 31 (noted on certificate), so please reach out to me sooner than later so we can get this into production for you. I would hate for someone to miss out because they forgot / lost track of time / whatnot and miss the expiration date.
Thanks!
Neil won the set that was given out as a door prize. I don't remember who won the other set that was given out at the "What's new at Pangolin" presentation, as I had to leave the room early. (Power issue in the cafeteria due to the maintenance guy working on the hot water heater!)
There were lots of people at the Pangolin presentation though - does anyone remember who won the second set of scanners?
Adam
I think Jeff (rgb-gas) may have got the set from the Pangolin presentation.
