doing another GB this time for lens from roither.
lens here

price list here -

lens start on page 15
good lens for the open can red diodes in my other gb are 7020h lens and lens27
me - 30x 7020h lens
dan briggs - 8x 7020h & 2x lens27
quazar - 2x 7020h
Cool beans Andy :)
8x 7020H's
4x Lens 27's
Ta,
Dan
this didnt go down to well, looks like its just you and me danny boy
Fcuk...
Just seen the price of the 27's.
Change it down to 2 ta ;)
Other people don't know what their missing!
bloody students!! ;)
indeed they are missing out big time.
I'm still waiting on the group buy for the 500mW diodes before I jump on the bandwagon with the groupbuy and the one for more LPC's. When do you intend to make the order?
well i could do with the lens sooner rather than later.Quote:

that would be cool andy if the red group buy comes together i will need lens tooQuote:

So your using the 7020H with the 815s with good results? I guess they give better results than the standard stock aixiz lens?
Cheers
Rich
it depends on your setup as to the lens you use.Quote:

the lens27 i believe gives a beam of 1mm by 1.5mm at apeture.
so if you wanted to combine 4 open can red diodes without any additional optics then you would need the lens27. if you were to use the 7020h then you could need telecopic lens.
4 beams using the lens27 would give you about 2mm by 3mm, where as 4 beams using the 7020h lens would give you 6mm by 10mm so you would lose alot of that off the scanner mirrors.
make sense?
Yep makes sense, thanks. I'm looking at combining two with PBS so I guess the lens 27 will be the way to go. Could I then combine this with a dichro with your 635 if I were to buy it??
Cheers

umm well if your going to combine two open cans with a cube then you could use the 7020h lens. you beam would be 5mm by 5mm.Quote:

Cool, sounds good. Give me a day or two then I will jump in on this group buy. Just need to figure quantities.
Cheers
Rich
glad to help
no probs

Saying that I was going to use one or two opnext 642nm 150mw reds before the possibility of this 500mw 638nm diodes appeared.
Dave recommended the lense 27 for the opnext diodes. I know the 500mw diode will need major correction which will be via Simon's group buy prism pairs that I've got ordered for my blues.
Do yo think the lense 27 will be suitable for the 500mw diode as well?
If so put me down for 2. If you're not sure.
I'll wait to see what the verdict is on the 500s and what optics combination is best for them.
Thanks
Kit:)
no idea as ive never put a len27 in front of the 638 diodeQuote:

Exactly my thinking (here's hoping for the outcome of that exercise comes soon) :)Quote:

Apart from the added prisms this 500mw red could help make thing pretty simple and compact.
I'm planning on running a harvested blue at around 100mw with the 100 of green and 200ish of red.
Oh well back to sitting on the fence to await the 500 red results.
Hi Andy,
The 642nm opnext diodes are going to be best
For my application so I'm in.
Lock me in for 2x lense27
Thanks for organizing the gb.
Incoming PM

Hi,
6 x 7020h for me thanks.
Oh geez, why is lens27 so expensive. There is no reflectance/transmittance graph on those for the AR coating.. Does anyone know the loss at 445? Also, I assume there is not much better for a narrow beam? I want to knife edge some beams as close as possible, then use a beam expander to get decent divergence.
Thanks!
The Lens27 is designed and coated for red, and among all lenses I tested it belongs to the most powerful ones. But it has a lot of wings and splash, especially awful with the HL6385DG and open can diodes. I suspect the high power is due to the extra halo and if one would clip it away, then the power would drop by a few percent and becomes more or less the same as for other aspheric lenses like the G-650-1.Quote:

Ahh, darn. What would you recommend that has good beam quality, narrow beam(for knife edging), and low loss at 445?
Well I didn't systematically test many collimators for blue as of yet, I guess any properly coated aspheric with a high NA and low FL would be OK, right now I am aware of 4 easily available kinds: G-405-2 of jayrob, the ones from mcarrot (I guess same as Marco's), the ones form Swisslas (I got one but didnt yet test it), and then various kinds from Thorlabs. But IMHO the Aixiz is not too bad, esp given the price.Quote:

They cost ~$20 each on small quantity orders.
GB cancelled as roithenr have moved into the real world and everyone can now order with ease!

Bugger!
Cheers anyway Andy; I'll get some ordered
will email you when i get home later dan
Hi Andy,
Never mind, thanks for your efforts anyway.
Kit:)
Did they head back to Narnia again, or Erehwon or wherever? That link gets a 403 'forbidden' error now.Quote:

No they just added an "s" to "order":Quote:

Pfff. Still in 1982 though. Request details, sigh. Whatever happened to online shopping. That alone would stop me trading with them.
