The original plan was to set these up in the lobby area, to decorate the walls. But if there's room upstairs, we can do that too.
I might even put one in the auditorium for a while - we'll just have to see how it feels in there.

So who all is bringing a lumia type projector, if you are let us know here.
May bring my dimple wheel, but it uses a prisim in the base and is suited bested driven my a gas lasers. I could pull the prism and try to re arrange some mirrors for better use on non-gasser. Might also bring laserman532's of beam table and controller if anyone is intrerested in seeing it. My dimple wheel mounts to it or a standard mobo type head.
wish i could make it with my lumia egg beater ;(

I will have several- also found some almost free black and other dark colored fabric to cover some of the windows in the ''dining room" Black plastic bags are cheap and can be cut open to make a pretty large piece.
If this is allowed I call 'dibs' on the spot by the piano in the dining room- one of my Lumia EFX does its 'thing' overhead and >180 degrees right and left. I will video as many Lumias as possible(a fish eye lens is on the way) and make a SELEM V LumiaMania video and burn DVDs-and put some on Youtube I would really like to give credit to the makers of the Lumias in the video so do whatever you can to help me with that-- are we lined up for some music in the dining room-- again I would be happy with something not to large or loud- but certainly would not object to a good sound system.
anybody have a small fogger for that room-? I can bring one but space in the car is my problem-
I was hoping for just a little foggage.
Cant wait to see the guys who were so kind, fun, funny, and helpful last yr and to the many I will meet the first time.
Len---:-)
Can we fog that area??, I thought there were sensors that would trip in that area..Quote:

Len,Len,Len,
Don't swet the petty, Pet the Swetty! We will have plenty of room in the car rental, Besides I am bringing two fogging units.
one is opperator controled and the other is duraton and intravel controld, I don't know if they will be needed but we will have them in any case! I remember last year that we were using a Hazer whitch realy paid off for the Beam effects and every bodys comfort! Don't forget our plan to upgrade the rental car if it dose turn out to be a little to small. I rented a full size car, not a compact! My head hits the top of any rollerskate any way, so relax my good friend we are coverd!
why would you need fog for lumias?
@ flecom,
I did'nt think that we needed to have foggers for lumina FX but it might be some kick ass beam FX. I was responding mainly to tiny car thing (the room issue) Hopefully you just came up with a good Idea!!!!!!
it's still nice to see the beams. even if it's just from lumia projectors.

No fog in the lobby or the backstage areas guys - it will trip the fire alarms.
If you need to see your lumia in the dark, we can set it up on the stage (behind the curtain, where the computers will be) and then turn off the work lights for the stage. We can still have fog back there, but we absolutely can not have any fog anywhere else except in the main auditorium.
Adam
That is what shower caps and rubber bands are for! Ask the HIE for extras.... I keep collecting them at every hotel stay just for my laser oh shit kit. *retardo >:) -EDIT: due to the comment below I started a new thread for that, so lumia doesn't get messed with.Quote:

It would be cool to have lumias and those grating projectors all throughout the building. And black lights... with velvet Elvis posters, too!
I'll be bringing one of those diffraction-grating projectors, but I don't have any velvet Elvis posters... :)
Adam
cool, it will be my first time seeing lumia in real life.
I am getting one or two of those "LASER OH SHIT KITS" great Idea dude!Quote:

Seriously, it sounds like you guys are going to have a great time. Just a bit too far for me to go to though.
Just remember when its over to say to everyone there, "Thank-you. Thank-you very much" (In an Elvis voice of course.)

Buffo gave me a good tip on the alarms-- call the FD & Alarm Company the day beforeQuote:

We will be using that tip at STEXLEM II this fall-thnx adam!!! where and when TBA.
Something else you can do (if your venue manager is OK with it) is to disconnect the phone line from the fire alarm panel. We did this the first two years at SELEM. This way the building alarm will still sound (which is a good thing if there really is a fire) but the call doesn't go out to the monitoring company. Of course, someone with a cell phone still needs to dial 911 if the building really is on fire...
Some venue managers will even disable certain smoke detectors. (We do this at SELEM too, for the detectors in the Auditorium.) That goes a long way towards preventing false alarms. Careful use of the fog machines is also a good idea.
Still, even with all these measures in place, every year we always trip the fire alarm at least once or twice. (Usually because someone leaves a door open to the auditorium, allowing the fog to travel down the hall where the smoke detectors have not been switched off.)
Adam
yet we still set that mofo off every year... *retardo
could we hang some black-out curtains in the doorways? would keep the light out and the smoke in?Quote:

Then again, we'll have the curtains closed this time, so there won't be nearly as much fog on the main stage area, so it might not be an issue this year. (The big problem was people leaving the door to the backstage area open, which would suck fog from the auditorium down the hall.)
