Wut.
I don't even.
There is a good reason they are not made stronger
Its called health and saftey.
And certainly for indoor use any more and you could damage someones ear drum
And get sued

For one better boom I would suggest to reverse the polarity of the capacitors !
But seriously: You're trolling right ?
You're a teacher for crying out loud, you're just married, about time you show some responsibility !
Scanning way over mpe, using flamejets indoors, and upgrading non-compliant gray-import crap is just NOT the way!
WTF?
Really?
What is the point of this thing?
If you want a loud bang, use a sample of an artillary piece through the PA...
And a big strobe for the flash!
These look like they create a preassure wave to make the bang... which is a really bad idea for crowd safety surely.
Too big a wave = burst eardrums or even damage to the venue and thus a Lawsuit for you.*retardo
Have a LONG careful think about this before you decide to upgrade or even use these fella...O_o
This is just about one of the stupidest thing I've seen so far. If you want a more powerful sound, just install bigger subwoofers! These 150 db is already enough to make permanent damage to your audience ears, you should seriously take more care of them (with both their eyes and ears)...
Just my 2 cents, you make what you want as long as I'm not where these things are installed :)
Sure that's not the right place, you should try fx dedicated forums... Do you know CO2 canons maybe? They do a lot of noise too :-)
Doesn't look spectacular to me, only makes a lot of noise and the risk of damaging ear drums doesn't make it worthwhile.
Why not use a DMX strobe and just use subwoofers which allow for a more controlled bang your producing.
You keep saying its good for an audience but why do you have to wear ear protection yourself then while your audience will not have this?
Your not really that closer then an audience would be.
So define this "close".
This is most certainly not the future of firework but most certainly the future of pointless ear damage.
My conclusion: This thing is garbage, dispose it and use proper equipment to entertain your crowd.
If I ever get to an event where this is present: I have my lawyer ready.
Is there a way to attenuate the size of the bang? Then I can imagine some uses for it...
New ways of creating safe fireworks are always welcome in theaters (provided it doesn't blow up eardrums!). If only there was a way to create a fog plume as well...
Have a nozzle inside of the unit that bursts out a bit of fog.Quote:

I don't know... it's not something I'll soon be using anyway :P
In Beyond there's an easy way to add a boom. Simply add a second AV track then add an explosive sound loop to the second av track where its required. Not only do you get the explosion, but you are also able to align it perfectly to the music event avoiding mis cues. As there's no limit to the loops you can add, you can add multiple explosions alligned to mulitple beats all in the same show.
Don't have a solution for the visual effect, but where permitted a flash pot could be the answer or strobe as PJ suggested where not.
This warm up can be done before actually using the unit?Quote:

The thing is that likely the unit needs to run really hot and then give bursts so it vaporizes the fluid fast but doesn't burn the fluid in the process.
Compared to normal fog use, it doesn't need to emit lots of fog and certainly not at a constant rate hence I mention the bursting of fluid.
This could turn out to be an expensive add-onn though :)
Also got to add: everytime RGB laserverkoop posts something thats to outragous to say the least he always says he leaves and then comes back and does it all over again.
When will someone on the forum finally act and just say we are done with this and take measures?
The thing is: with lasers you have a safety margin in between your audience. You hang the projectors up high so your audience can't reach that.Quote:

And with a subwoofer you can turn stuff down for safety if needed or desired.
With big performances there is even a distance between the subwoofers and audience.
Just because other things can be bad when not used right doesn't justify that what you are doing is right.Quote:

I've bought 2 Kvants from Joost a year ago.
I'm not having anything against Joost in person, but i agree this Boom device which may be looking fun to use could be dangerous, and i'm sure Joost also knows that.
He is a teacher so i doubt he will put his audience in danger on purpose, am i wright Joost!?
Maybe you could tell everyone how much decibel this device creates so we all know it's safe?
your right!
( i not post here any more, to many people think they know it all, now i only read info like the most do)
Joost, let us know how much decibel it creates so we all could sleep well and don't have to worry about it anymore.
This is new material for some people over here including myself i could imagine they doubt it's save, but you could take that feeling away.
If it bangs around 105db which will be the same as the music in a club/disco the arbo says it won't damage your hearing, a symphony orchestra have peaks around 120/130 db, what the f.ck that's nearly a Jet which leaves the runway (140db measured at 30 meters from the plane).
I've checked it on www.arbopodium.nl, arbo is the dutch organization which controls the rules for all business like laserists, PA workers but also car mechanic or a painter and off course Joost!)
Just let us know the numbers, you should have a DB meter if you use this equipment so i presume you also have measured the bang!
You can't accurately measure "bangs" with a dB meter, at least not with the ones that are not specifically designed for this purpose.
And No, automaxpeakhold does not do this.
Oh, am I being negative? Guess I'm in the way of the passionate professional again
Bart, i want Joost to proof he doing it safe.
If he needs special equipment to measure it then he should have it.
I'm waiting for the numbers
