PL tb450b Osram

edit. My power Meter wAs mid calibrate. Will update when inrun a full panel. I am getting 2.34W at 1.83aThis diode is rated at 1.6w see data sheet for other specs. If anyone interested this is the results I had from this diode. Waiting for correction sets to look at beams spec, but to the eye appears better than the m140 raw. The lens is a 405-g2

Bias is at 172ma doing 30mw
500mw. @ 520ma
750mw. @. 728ma
1w. @. 945ma
1.2w. @. 1.13A
1.34w. @. 1.28A
1.55w. @. 1.428A
1.73w. @. 1.62A
1.83w. @. 1.75A
1.9w. @. 1.94A
1.93w. @. 2.2A. Clearly not worth pushing harder in my case.

Data sheet. http://catalog.osram-os.com/jsp/down...00088311_0.pdf

Cant wait to see your results.

So far the output looks simular to the 1.4W PL TB450 diodes, just more power.

We should do a murder fund and see how high it goes. I'm in for $5.

There is one in the group buy over on LPF. The guy organizing it brought me a couple on part trade last night. They are only $37 a piece.

Yeah I was reading that earlier.

I'm not part of LPF anymore, so....

I'm more interested in beam specs. Power wise the last 2 M140 diodes I bought both peaked over 2.1W @1.8A with a 3 element glass lens. I've also read others have been getting simular powers. I wonder if Crapio is using better binned diodes in their projectors.

That's a lot of power after a three-element lens. But how long did they last?

Thinking these are different than the m140, the beAm width at 30' not corrected is smaller than the m140. The bond wires are also different there are six plus the static protection

They are still going. Its a very efficient diode. As long as they are well sinked these diodes cruse at 1.8A.

Those diodes are different. My point being if you were looking for more power the M140s might be a better option.

Ah got ya, I have m140 and 9mm in my projectors. Just looking to see if these are a different color and if beam quality is any better. Waiting on some correction glass to prove disprove.

For wavelength I am planning on PBS it with a 445 M align them perfect to on another then run it thru a diffraction grating and see how if the split.

Well, I'm slightly confused, but never mind.. I hear good things about the 9mm ones, but I don't feel like getting a lot of new mounts, I prefer staying with 5.6mm with a capsule and a window, whatever other forms there are. The diodes in the first-post link look nice, if they offer a slightly longer wavelength and lower slow axis divergence (after the aspheric lens) and more power than I was aware I could get, complete with long overdrive life, it looks like a difficult hand to beat.

You had me until you said 'diffraction grating'. What's that going to do?

If the wavelength is truely higher when I put it through a grating the two beams will separate. This is just as a test to see how different if any there is between what most use at 445 and theses supposedly at 450 as far as wavelength.

I would be interested to see if the wavelength is different than the M series or the 9mm diodes. If I remember correctly I looked at a bunch of the m modes over a year ago and out of something like a dozen the wavelength varied from near 450 to nearly 460nm. It spanned about 7nm.

Oh. :) Ok, thanks. I thought it was something permanent and therefore mysterious, not diagnostic..

I remember someone saying that a CD can be used for limited diffraction tests, but I'm not sure if it's strong enough to separate fairly small differences in deflection.

Line spacing on a CD is in the order of 1.6 microns, which should be adequate for this purpose.
I've used CD's as beam targets in the past and you get a fairly good amount of diffraction.

Edit ill update power table soon but my power meter was miscalibrated. This diode I have two are putting out much more power than I expected. At 1.83a I am getting 2.34W.
