Agreed. Great Find Chris
Fascinating talk. I had no idea the realm of experiments that open up once we reach the next level.
I fell asleep watching it last night (it was late and I was in bed) but what I saw so far was great and am looking forward to seeing the rest after I get home from work. Good find!
Cool!!! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!
No actual lasers in the video :(
Here is a video of an actual gigawatt laser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNx97uBKhj8
note - the small purple dot in the lower center of the screen in the plasma, the bright rainbow glow is the laser beam after the plasma ball (the rainbow is generated due to nonlinear effects in air)
She pops a balloon with one! Starting at the 12 minute mark.Quote:

I demand a refund
Another 'real' laser video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL9_Tldmrhs - 'popping' a missile (not actually ultra intense, maybe 'pretty intense' at a ~1kw/cm^2)
i already knew all she explained.
Thanks for sharing, I found the part on Fusion really interesting.
No, no, no! You have it all wrong. You THINK it's only a 10mW laser, but its really a 10KHz, mode locked, one femtosecond, gigawatt, hand held from Spencer. I have one.Quote:

With all those aging professors in the audience, I did think it started a bit on the slow side.
:cat:
As part of "ageing" remote audience..... I agree ! Attachment 47611
Cheers :)
@ "10KHz, mode locked, one femtosecond, gigawatt, hand held from Spencer." I want one ....interested in selling it?
Sure, no sweat. But I should warn you, it needs a REEEEALY special battery.Quote:
