Laser / lighting hanger bracket adapter for use with speaker stands?

I was wondering if anyone knows of a commercially available hanger bracket adapter that would mount on a standard speaker tripod, and would allow you to mount the laser projector or other lighting fixture using the projector or fixture's hanger bracket?

I'm not looking for a conventional lighting stand arrangement that mounts the fixtures on arms to the side of the stand; I'm looking for something that would allow you to hang a single fixture or projector at the top of the stand, in lieu of a top-mounted flat plate or shelf.

This would be for home / private use, for projectors and light fixtures the size of a Pluto II and smaller.
I wouldn't need anything extremely heavy-duty or expensive - just something compatible with the typical everyday speaker and lighting stand.

EDIT:

I found the X-Laser mobile mount online, which is pretty much conceptually what I have in mind -
but that is probably overkill and considerably more expensive than what I really need.

The X-Laser mobile mount was exactly what I was going to steer you towards. I think we established when Adam and I were on a visit there last year that a Pluto wouldn't quite fit. Yes, it's pricey but, there is a lot of R&D that went into it, more expensive materials, weld technique, etc.

Someone posted awhile back they had a source that could make one - maybe Len (hakzaw1) - that would be cheaper although not as nice as the X-Laser model.

Hmm, the idea of flipping the projector's bracket and using a speaker stand adapter is an interesting idea.
Since this is for temporary home use, I might have to do some experimenting...

I flip the bracket and use one of these

And that's on gigs, not home use. The lifts go up to 4m if required so its a 'proper' solution. 15-20kg is what I put on them.
If its outdoors then I drop rain covers over the top and the bar underneath is a dry location for all the electrical connections.

I've also got one of these, bought on Norty's recommendation. Seems to work well although I have nothing else to compare it with. They are sturdier than they look though and easy to fit / remove..

Again, not a 'for Pro use' suggestion, but.. Trust me, will be FINE for lightweight / home use.. Paint it black, and everyone will be like 'Wow, where'd you get that awesome PJ-mount??' :)

How much weight have you been able to support with this method?
The PII projector I might need to support weighs in at around 31 lbs...

I've had up to 6x 8" heavy-duty Mirs (3x Up, 3x Down..) - on a ~28" 'extension arm' (fused to the El-end..) - with zero feeling of 'Eek, this is sketchy' / might break.. So, in-close to the El, you should be fine.. Finding the right 'balance point' will be important, but... You should be able to 'experiment' quickly / easily, and certainly inexpensively.. (..but, I might suggest experimenting over a couple mattresses.. :p

Hey guys, just seeing this thread. I made my own by mounting aluminum pool ladder mounts to the bottom of a piece of plywood and sit that on my lighting tripods. The pool ladder mounts have a set screw, and are slightly larger than the pole from my ADJ lighting tripods (with the t bar removed.) I've used this to hold my Pluto IIs.

I got the aluminum pool ladder mounts via Amazon. I am slightly worried that they're cast aluminum and will crack in half or something, but so far I've had no issues. Most of the weight is vertical against the top of the lighting tripod so the force on the walls of the mount are mostly stabilization.

Bradfo had some really nice looking similar things @ SELEM made of solid aluminum I think?

An earlier model I made used two C Clamps mounted to the laminated wood used for shelving. I used this to hold a pair of stacked video projectors on the same American DJ tripod for outdoor side-of-building MarioKart.

Thanks! yeah I'd love to make them cheaper, but they're designed for road use so we use certified welders, have it made out of high grade aluminum and get a nice, durable powdercoat on it. Overkill for a home setup, but good on the road.
