Whoo-Hoo! My new Blue 473 LaserWave is here!!

YES!! Not only did it arrive FAST (1 week) -it's Awesome:D !! The beam looks under 1 mm, really tight, divergence is spectacular and it burns a mark in my dell pc faceplate from 4 ft away (my poor -mans power meter) ( I consider laser scars on my equipment as badges of honor:))
Bridge says it's the 80 mW version but I think theyre under-rated>:)
Nice screw-on cap to protect the lens when not in use.
The box came with bubble-wrap on the OUTSIDE and plenty of foam on the inside. Excellent service too!!
Here's some pix:
Too bad I'm such a lousy photographer-- doesnt do it justice..
All I have to say is THANX BRIDGE!!!!:D:D:D and as far as my lousy photos--Sorry Bridge..:o BUT...
I finally get to build an RGB .. YEAHHH!!!
Nice solid unit. Beautiful Blue:cool: Good Quality!
I highly recommend LaserWave.

Nice Steve! Now you really got the itch. :D You got till this weekend to get it installed and scanning... ;)

woohoo steve!!!

ya got it huh?? congrats man. yeah, so far mine has been perfect also.

CNI----watch out!!! :)

bridge- you da man!!

Hi Steve,
Glad to hear you had received the blue unit, most pleasure is that you like it, :).wish it will give you more pleasure.
congratulations, I can't waiting to see your RGB unit, that will be nice, is it you prepare for the FLEM?
haha, if you 'd like show us larger(bigger) photos that will be better.

thanks ,Marc, also very happy you are satisfy our products, are you finished building your big RGB unit, if you need any lasers or optics design support, I 'd like that I can do something for you.
Best regards!
Bridge

Bridge- I'll try to post more photos, but I'm not a very good photograher:oand my cameras aren't good..
Allthat- Yeah, I'll be dreaming of the day-- I still got a red 636 to build.. and G-124s to design an amp and interface to come up with-- I wish I could take the fast-good route and buy pangolin and DT-40s but that's just not me :(,,, Oh well....
BUT.. I've got the 473 and a 532 I may combine with my laser-widow or basic-stamp II and have some cheezy fun anyway:D ..I gotta order a 473/532 dichro now tho.. the pit ..oh.. the pit...:p ahh.. cha-$-ching...heh...
Gotta- glad to hear you like yours too:) .. Yeah, CNI, look-out!! There's some competition in town...
Some people say that diode lasers cant compete with gas lasers in beam quality, but looking at this Laserwave 473, I gotta say that I seriously doubt that anymore.:) It looks good or better than my 2 argons I own..
Things are definitely changing..
Bridge- I doubt if I can make it to FLEM.. Florida is about a day and a half drive from here.. I'll probably not even make it to SELEM this year.. Maybe Selem 2009 I'll have my rig together.. I'm making this project last a while because it's fun building...:)

Steve, when you look at the dpss blue when scanning you will see the problem with beam quality. There seems to be "noise" all along the scanned blue line. I think that is where everyone issue is. I'll try to take a picture when I get home tonight to show you.

Also, there is a set of g124 amps on eBay... or there was. I'll see if I can find the link for you. :D

OK I see- It's not made for cell scanning or interferometry but wtf- were into light-shows;) right? Apologies:)..to the argon crowd.. (which i'm one of) - Aaron- thanx for the link. Gotta go to bed now... zzzzzzz

What can I say, the LaserWave's modules are impressive! :D
I got CNI lasers also and the LaserWave lasers are better than CNI.

AllThat...yeah I noticed that *noise* but keep forgetting to mention it....Which other threads have spoken about it?

I see it in the lines on the wall and I aslo see it in the air in the beam.....

So the solution is a new power supply?

Cheers,
Graham

Bridge claims that his 473nm blue does not suffer from the noise.

I do not think there is a solution. As far as I know it happends to all blue dpss lasers. At least 473 nm. Anyone more knowledgeable than I want to chime in. :D I'd be impressed if the LaserWaves did not suffer from this.

I mix in a tiny bit of green with the blue. The color shift to cyan is hardly noticeable but it smooths out the blue and makes it a bit brighter. I applied this trick in laser tennis and some people have responded that the game made their blue look better than ever before :D

Wow - interesting idea there Zoof! I'll have to try that once I get my first blue - but that wont be until next fall probably - hopefully by then I can get a 2watt blue for >2grand hahahahahahaha fat chance - I can dream cant I?

BOOOO... That is not a solution. ;) I also like my blue deep. I REALLY want a 457nm. I wonder if 457s have the same issue... My problem with the mixing green in is that I seem to notice the noise with cyan and magenta, sometimes white if I am looking for it. Has anyone looked for it with the blu rays?

It wouldn't be an issue with the blue ray diode since from what I understand the problem stems from the cooling precision of the frequency doubling crystals.

But I dont think the 457nm needs to be kept as precise - you could just avoid all the dpss blues and go with one of the 445nm ones from Arctos or the 600/1200mw versions from Medialas!

Is LW plaining to make 300mw-400mw blue?

:p Yea, some day over the rainbow...

Dr. Laser - They have 473nm up to 400mw as of now.

They're developing 1watt+ currently.

I dont know why people want to keep straying away further from the visible spectrum -- it's like 635nm vs 660 - its 5 times brighter- the same for blue. Yeah cyan/aqua is my fav color.. that sounded gay ..uhh.. oh well ..
MORE PICS of my new favorite laser- Bridge's-LaserWave:D:DYee-Haw!!:)

Come on Steve... I want that DEEP blue. 488 is cool, 473 is very nice... but 457, now that ice cold BLUE! It is the color palette I want, DEEP blue to DEEP red. 442 to 680 or so. ;)

At least your favorite color isn't pink.

Hi Dr Laser,
Thanks for your interesting our products, a pictures would be better than many words, the pictures is our 400mW blue series beam and test power. wish you will like.
Best regards!
Bridge

Thanks Frank... I am envious now... :p

Yea, Steve, I'd like to doa Pepsi challange with a "low range" 635 to 473 or 488 and a "high range" 671 to 457 or 442, to see how much difference the eye "feels". It would be an expensive challange, and I'd want to keep the high range projector no matter how it looked. >:) Any of you Laser Sellers want to donate these set ups so I can test it out? ;) :D

Nice Power meter Bridge.. I bet that one is a little more expensive than a lasercheck:)
AAllthat- Who sez my favorite color isnt pink- heh-
Bridge- Very nice-- 400+ Wow:D

Steve-o those power meters are like 500 bucks each - very nice, I'll probably be buying one of Bridge's 20w versions in the future.

:)

I am sorry, the 400mW blue unit is much more expensive than the power meter, :).
Thanks, Max

yes, the up to 2W version powermeter is only needed 500USD/each, there is a group buy:
http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...ead.php?t=3418, if you are interesting, go and do it.
Best regards!
Bridge

Bridge- I love your lasers:D
Aaron- I want to build a pink/ puce/ chartruce laser.. ugh..:)
Mliptack- I was kidding..;) I'll stick to my poor-mans laserchek for now- how fast it burns thru black plastic from a Vhs tape front hinged cover:rolleyes:

Seriously tho-- when I have an extra $500.00 I'll get one of those power meters..
Ok- seriously, really, I'd like to pepsi-challenge any RGB with a 488/ 594/ 622 for a color mix that I think couldnt be beat (thats cyan/ yellow/ orange)
If it werent so expensive I'd have one now, even if I had to yank the lines out of a supercontinuum laser:D I'm dreamin' now...:) hehe..

Ha - I realized that, I was more so stating that as a small fact :)

Hi Zoof,
very interesting,nice game.
wish there will be more talk about blue noise, which will help us do better and better, thanks.
Best regards!
