I know its not instruction on how to but here are a couple of pix i have of the 265 with the bottom cover off
Rob
Ok this is my 265 guts.
you have a big difference in caps!
Ok now just for a parts list and schematic.
Also yours lokks like an earlier one to mine as there is no proteus flow sensor & assocaited board (see image). Yours look spositivley empty compared to mine!
Rob
Yes rob you hit it, his is MUCh older than yours, his has old style flow switch and yours is protous.
Rob, are you saying that your 265 will run on single phase? When we did it years ago we had a box of caps on the outside of the posersupply. I will try to dig up info.
yes indeed it does run on single phase its as I bought it 4 years ago.
Rob
I remember that if there was not enough filtering caps the filament choke would buzz, and with time and getting hot the paper between the wireing of the choke would get discolored and could present a fire hazard and your PS appears to have much bigger caps than laser nerds. His is very old school, just like the ones I have :)
I wonder who did the nice retro fit to Rob's supply?
Looks to me like really good work.
Hey, I can see a vacuum tube in there !
That is really an old school PS ! :)

its actually some sort of thermal device - its a bi-metal strip with a heated coil wrapped round it that happens to be in a glass enevlope. I think its a time delay mechanism of some sort. I must admit on first sight I had the same thought as you :)
Rob
Looking at the input part of schema (model 265 E407-904 rev AP) it's even hard to find filter caps. That's OK for a 3-phase, but at single phase caps and preferably an inductor would be required...

Yes it is called a time delay relay. after you lift the breaker the coil heats up and it closes the contact 30 seconds later allowing time for the caps to build up start voltage which then the start lamp turns on...then you push the start button.
