any ideas how to combine 2 405 nm beams? is there a pbs cube for this wavelength? :)
the one that comes with the 803t sled should work..
the problem with the one from the sled is that it is VERY small
i have done a few experiements with a 473nm cube from laser wave and have gotten prety good results.
but since i do not have a power meter i cannot give exact details. sorry.
i do have an extra 473nm cube from laser wave unopened if you are interested.
The problem with the standard cube from the sled is, it is optimized for 650 and 405.
There are optics available for the "just barely visible" range. However they Are not cheap, and they're hard to find.
Unfortunately, I do not know of an off-the-shelf solution for what you're trying to do. The other cubes are close, but you'll lose a ton of light doing what you're trying to do.

i just ordered a power meter and will be able to let you know exactly how much is lost using a 473nm cube.
it should be here late next week
would be great, thanks!
:)
Hey everybody! I just got (like 5 minutes ago!) a 405 analog mod laser that was hand made by thesk8nmidget.
I just hooked it up and throttled it up to full brightness.
GAWD! This thing is bright! :D
It looks fantastic on white paper.
I'm gonna' have fun with this!
Thanks Josh! :D
James. :)
hahah great to hear james! i want to get a nice big white sheet and soak it in detergent and make it my projector screen. :)
the 405 LOVES it!
have you put some laserboy stuff through it yet?
James, whats the power on that and how much was it??
its set at 120ma and we worked out a deal a while back. no money was exchanged
is it a "lab" style laser, tec cooled?
lab style yes but not tec cooled.
here is a picture of james's setup i have now recently upgraded the heat sink to a new design which i think is much better
(this is just the diode module and heatsink, power and driver not pictured)

here is it in action

NICE pic!
No I haven't pointed it into scanners yet.
I have to get a hunk of Aluminum.
I made another trade for an analog red. :D
I'm wating for it to be built.
Now that I have some dichros, all I need is an analog mod greenie! :D
It's going to be so much fun to be able to play with RGB anytime I want to. :D
I almost never fire up my Argon. :( I just can't see wasting the tube by turning it on and off for short periods of time.
James. :)
what color is your argon?
thats exciting to get the red already coming! whats the plan for green?
My Argon gives me 519 green, 488 cyan, 476 blue. The blue is pretty weak. I get my 632 red from a HeNe. It's all modulated with a 4ch PCAOM. And it's all better since it all got tweaked up at SELEM by mixedgas and DZ. :D
Do you have a good choice for a greenie?
James. :)
i would say a greeny from laserwave.
:)
i love mine
Thanks. I'll take a look! :D
Here's a noob question...
Are these dichros coated on one side or both sides? Is there a wrong way to put these mirrors into these mounts?
Thanks!
James. :)
PS. I examined them closely and I could not tell the difference from one side to the other. So I went ahead and put them in the mounts.
These things are pretty! :D
Now that you mention it, on closer exmination, it looks like one side of each one of these dichros has a more obvious ghost image of another color. I'm assuming that is the wrong side.
James. :)
I just ordered a 445nm PBS cube. I going to use it for mixing 473nm and 405nm.
He can also make 405nm dichro's. they will cost 50USD/pcs if we buy more than 30pcs.
i have done some tests with the pbs cubes and it reflects them at 90%+ but not so much on the pass. i wouldnt even consider using them with a pbs cube for 473.
also wanted to state the reflect 473 dichros from laser wave reflect 99% of the 405 :)
so thats good news!
