Lumia Stuff

Hi All

I've been playing today with the Lumia wheels I bought from Laserman532. All I can say is that pictures don't do them justice, the effects in real life a quite simply stunning :)

I have been trying to achieve a sort of outer spacey nebularish sunny type of explosion thingy  :D

Here are some links to the YouTube videos...

and a few stills...

Nice!

Are you using strictly lumia wheels, or scanners + lumia?

Awesome vids & photos!! :D

Hi Jem

Those vids are just so beautiful. The last video you pointed out as your favorite would have gone really well with JM Jarre's Equinoxe part 2 piece of music.

wow!!

i could imagine a LSD trip would look like that....

damnn

Just played the video's again with Equinoxe Pt 2 playing in the background. The two work perfectly together.
You must bring this to the meet next month.

Carl

for a good time you could have him send you the auction numbers and read my descriptions of them...My sense of humor really shines IMHO, we could take this thread to a all new form of retarded.

which auctions, search returned 0 auctions.

Thanks for the kind comments folks :)

Steve, the Ebay auction for one of the wheels was number 140295227962. The other wheels were a result of direct PM's with Pat ;)

Carl, I agree, some music would have been good. Funnily enough I was actually playing JMJ to some of the effects, but I decided not to play it when I recorded the video as I wasn't sure what others would think. I'll bring them to the meet if I remember.

Pat, Thanks again for the wheels. I love them :D

Randy, The videos are all scanned effects + a lumia wheel, to be more precise they are the simplest abstracts from LivePRO (Playtime April 2007) ;)

You sort of get an idea from the videos, but they are sooo much better in real life, they really do look like 3D images. This initial attempt was to create an ethereal space type of effect.

Cheers

Jem

Cool - thanks!! :)

I love it!! Lumia forever! - Tim

Looks great- got any projector pics?
I know what you mean when you say "photos don't do them justice". It's impossible to capture the ghost & magic factor.

Oh Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy... :D

O.K., i've been playing again today and these are the results...

Basically these Lumia Effects were all done using simple abstracts in LivePRO. The brightness was set to the beat of the music and I used the LivePRO/Winamp plugin to provide the sound feed.

I used one of Laserman532's lumia wheels placed static in front of the galvos on my RGB projector, I then placed a focussing lens in front of that (+4 diopters) so I could project (focus) an image about 6" across onto my projector screen about 6 feet away. Sadly I didn't have a tripod for the camera (as i'd already used it to hold the focussing lens), so the image may be a bit shakey as my arm gets tired.

These effects are much better (read 'different') than the first set, It's nice to have some reaction of the effects in time to the music, again the videos really don't do them justice.

Inparticularly the 'White Rabbit' song by Jefferson Airplane fits nicely with the abstract... 1960's LSD and all that flower power stuff ;) :D
