Generic laser case

if we would be able to get a very good generic case made for us laser enthousiasts, what size would you prefer ?

What design, 2 levels ? Fan holes ?

Have to get some made for a project we are making but if I get 1 made or 10 or 20 it is same

They can also powdercoat them

Looking forward to reading your comments ;)

Did you see the one I had in a small flight case at the UKLEM?

Or... Did you see the ones on the rigging on the stage. They were all cases made by Mark (Insanity) and Simon (Pit8ull). These are very well thought out cases and pretty much come pre-wired.

There's a thread on the forum somewhere about these cases. It might be worth contacting them before re-inventing the wheel ;).

Cheers

Yes, I did but as I understood Mark and Simon have only few left and they are planning to use that one.
Again I might understood wrong, the ones I am planning is just a alu base plate drilled every cm in the middle (of the case) and the rest free for others to install (diodes or modules etc.) however they see fit....

But if we get ours (for diodes) made, if the guy cuts and bends 1 or 10 it is going to be almost same price.

I might be interrested in the base plate alone. In our country I've only found them 2m² for 1cm thick, or for a ridiculous price.

Hence the group buy, if we get a bigger plate cut into smaller pieces it makes sense...
Where in Belgium are you ?

Where in Belgium are you ?

15km east of Ghent.
Are you planning on anodizing the baseplates in black and/or having holes drilled and tapped?

And where are you located?

I would be interested if it was an entire case with pre cut holes.

All depending on quality and price mind.

That case is nice, but I don't see any solution to fix it on a stand or tripod.

What's the best way to contact them if we want to purchase the case? Just use the contact now button on: http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/...aser_Case.html ?
Do you have the links to the other cases?

i just used the online chat, they will give you an email to contact them. just tell them how you want the case, built or unbuilt, how you want it shipped and your address. u might want to ask them to supply the mains power socket and switch as well.

Yeah I just found it. Not bad I might get one to try it out. Wish it would double leveled though...

The price for the cases aren't too bad, but the shipping prices to the US are what kills me. For a case that will fit a high powered RGB, it comes out to $180 for the case and $200  for shipping. The aluminum for the case that I was looking at was 5mm thick. After paying for the bank transfer fees, we're looking at some serious cash. It may be less expensive to build one.

I'll ask if they do sea freight, but when I complained about price, they didn't seem to try to offer a cheaper alternative. I'll find out if sea freight is an option.

Maby they can ship without it?

this is a quote i just got from them from china to sydney

Quote:

Hi Ben,

Thank you for your e-mail very much.

I can't check the sea freight price right now, because it is weekend, I will let you know on Monday, next week,ok?

In my opionion, if you don't need many cases, it is better send by Express. If sent by sea, it needs to pay document and custom, and it needs longer time to arrive. When it arrives at the port, you also need clear custom and get the goods from shipping company.

I just check the Express price, it is about USD55 for 7KG without flight case by UPS, it needs 3 business days, door to door service.

It is USD90 for 14KG with flight case.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Nice weekend!

mimi

It is USD2/CBM for the sea freight, but the document and custom is USD85. 13 days to arrive.

if you are getting a few cases it works out pretty cheap. might be worth doing a group buy for your area then posting em out locally.

I'm talking to them right now about shipping costs and everything.

Here are the specs that I got:

http://levproductions.com/PL/case/case_info.gif

If you want to see the actual HTML table it's here: http://levproductions.com/PL/case/case.html

I spent like 20 minutes creating a BB table and then realized this board doesn't support it lol.

Let me know how many of you are interested and I'll figure out total costs (and if its worth it to get it).
I'm located in Los Angeles btw

And I started to assable the parts. It is pretty straight forward. There are ALOT of screws...
