    Exclamation regarding AOM problems

    Hey Everybody

i believe this is my first thread here on photonlexicon, so hope there is a lot of patient user here, who can help me out

just to make sure, i have tried searching for this on the forum, but dint find the answer i was looking for ...

my problem is, that i have bought a green laser from Milles-Griot, whitout modulation, so i bought a AOM to blank it instead, this is a Crystal Technology model 3200-142, whit a singel channel RF driver, this worksfine, BUT not for my laser, as the power loss from the AOM is too high, and the angel between the 0th order and 1st order is to low ....

so now i have find a new AOM that can handle the laser, and here is where i need some help , my laser is DPSS 2,1W 3x3mm beam apperture..

    i have found this :

    http://cgi.ebay.de/AA-AOM-AND-DRIVER...item35a667af32

but i am not sure how this AOM is supposed to be align´t ?? and where do i see the 0th and 1st order beam angle ??

    hope dearly you can help

    thx in advance,
    BWS

    Hi BWS

I think the seller is gogu, a member here which is a really nice guy

You can contact him by private message if you want, he will do his best to help you out

These AOM are really nice, top quality

For what I recall having one myself, angle between first and zeroth order beams is something like 15° and you could enlarge the hole to be sure not to lose a part of the beam (but efficiency is reduced for larger beams, as for any AO crystal)

One, you can focus the beam down to use smaller crystals..

Two, what kind of mount did you use with the first AOM? sometimes stepping up to a more precise mount really helps with getting that last 10% of the available thruput.
