Default Advice on new projector case.

    Hi all,

I am thinking of buying or building a new case for my small green but cant decide the best way to go. I want to have a case the is big enough to upgrade to RGB when I have a bit more money so I was thinking of something like the case in the recent group buy for ~$160. Cant find a contact email for the company that makes them though.

My alternative would be to build something out of extruded aluminium and sheet metal but not to good with the design ideas for that.

    Any advice?

Ask user Edison on this forum for ideas.
He designed a very nice case from aluminium, which is 30x40x20cm in size and can hold up to 3 modules in RGB with their drivers, supplies, plus scanner and drivers.

Look for his topic in For Sale Maybe for sale.
There you can see pictures. I have currently 3 of those and i am very happy with those.

    Hi

I have a case design that I can have made for you. It's made from 5 mm & 10mm Aluminium for the laser module shelf. It has an upper and a lower section. The dichro's are in there own sealed area away from dust blown in from cooling fans. The font and back panels are made from 2mm Stainless Steel. I can have the entire thing made for you so all you have to do is mount your modules drivers scanners psu's etc Or I can supply it as a flat pack item with everything you need to construct it. I'll be recieving the first one of the line this week so I'll post some pics of it once I have it. Let me know if your interested?

I only have my design pics but here they are, they give an idea of what it looks like. Cost isn't cheap because of the aluuminium. I expect it to cost once completed around the £300 mark.

If anyone has any questions about it then pm or add to this thread....that's if Haymaker doesn't mind questions adding on his thread ;o)

I have no problems sharing this thread. Thats a nice looking concept but I think the cost may be a little over my budget at the moment.

    @ mattydrac; nice design!

However I would ditch the exhaust fan as it increases the chance of creating negative pressure in the case, which causes dust to be drawn in through every small leak. This effect is magnified by the air filter on the intake which restricts the airflow slightly.

what about if I had both fans blowing? Hot air can escape through the vents on the side. I wasn't going to use filtered fans because the optics are sealed in their own area? I appreciate all design tips anything that improves the design is good.

The dimensions are 600 x 420 x 200 LxDxH I've designed it so the trays can easily be slid in and out without needing arms like an octopus to hold the rest of the thing together. Just unscrew the front or the back and slide the trays out. Once you've disconnected all the cables and wires
