    Nice one Paul

    I don't wanna put a downer on anything, but I thought UKLM's were only ~2x a year?
Or 'av I got the wrong end of the stick?

I really like Surfleet; if it is possible to emulate that in Scotland, then mega.

P.s. Can we get CAA approval for the chosen location?

    Hi Daniel

    " I don't wanna put a downer on anything, but I thought UKLM's were only ~2x a year?
Or 'av I got the wrong end of the stick? "

Well Daniel , theres no society here , no club , no group , no commitee , No Decision Makers and thats the way people want it as far as i know ... we are all only a couple of years into this and im sure over the years things will settle down .... i think Scotlands far enough away to have its own mini lem , if only 10 turned up from Scotland only that would be great , if more "LASERS" with some people turn up even better ... theres people who will attend the Scotlem that would never due to family circumstances or travel circumstances , travel to surfleet or leicester ...my own circumstances have changed that is making travelling more and more difficult .... i guess even if we ended up with a LEM EVERY MONTH , fine ...people will choose which to attend and some will die off ........ Surfleets been so successful there seems to be no one SCREAMING for a leicester meet anymore ( just damn shame surfleets even further away from me ! )

CAA approval ...hadnt thought of that - current venue is in flight path - literally ! ! ... another reason to look again for a new venue ! give me a few weeks !

Also i was originally thinking this was going to be a 6 hours on a sunday thing . but being july , with afew people talking about travelling a long way we could maybe make it an overnight sat/sun thing .... i would say the key is the venue ! I will get working on that !

    ...............................
My own long term view ( and this is kinda laser heaven for me ) is that there should be ONE HUGE BIG MEET , once a year that everyone trys to make , that EVERYONE REALLY does their best to make it to , ideally in the central of the country , close to motorways and airports .....like manchester ( for international visitors) in a big spacous venue for safety and to do some decent long term projections ... something that will really attract people - 50 / 60 / 80 lasers ! ........ ( my own little bit own laser heaven is that public would be allowed into a cordoned off area - all done 100% safely of course and get charged LOL so they pay for the venue ! ! ! we get it on the radio and theres a bit of public education going on too !

My own view is this one big meeting should be called UKLEM ... and should be surrounded by mini-lems in different parts of the country the rest of the year with us all looking forward to getting together for the BIG UN ! .... and i am sure it will come , over the years , it will come , eventully someone will come up with a teriffic venue , the perfect one in a central place , and it will be well attended and then it will all fall into place naturally !
    ..................................

Anyways i better go and get some work done

    Paul,
Sorry, I guess I didn't express "what was in my head" well enough.
I was just thinking along the lines of: say there was a LEM every month, the "Oh, not another LEM" might develop. But make that 4,5,6 months and it will probably be "yippie, another LEM!"

Saying that, I'd probably be up for a LEM if there was one a week
I just don't want it to loose that "shine" if you know what I mean.

I commend ANYONE who is prepared to put the time and effort required to bring a LEM together. Well worth it.

Can't wait for SoctLEM. Gonna have to make some new gizmos to bring

P.S. CAA would be REALLY mega

I think you will struggle to get CAA approval if you are in a direct flight line.

I did a search for my mobile phone number on Google today and was supprised to see that it came up several times as a NOTAM 'Laser Display' contact number for the Surfleet LEM's It looks like the Laser display NOTAMs are posted on the internet too

We need to find a LEM site at Dunsop Bridge, a village within the Ribble Valley borough of Lancashire, England - This is reputedly the center of GB

I've been to Dunsop Bridge a number of times for day trips out and the village hall there is definitely to small for a LEM but there's plenty of mountain sides to do projections on to.

Would Preston, Lancashire be central enough? I have not made any enquiries yet but I know of a night club venue that's within an old mill. I suppose there's no harm in asking.

"Laser display NOTAMs are posted on the internet too"
Interesting ... particulary as I have put at least half a dozen of these in over the years and mines not showing up under addresses, phone numbers or name ! they must like you !

Carl B said "Would Preston, Lancashire be central enough? " .... well ...
theres " No Decision Makers and thats the way people want it as far as i know"
Carl if you get a decent venue and pick a month that dont look too busy ..people will vote with their power sockets and plug those lasers in ... or not as the case may be ! As I said earlier i would be happy if 6- 10 people turned up for 5/6 hours, that would be enough for a great laser fix , but hey it looks like a few more will turn up ... would you be happy if just a few turned up ? I have been asking for years about a Scotlem with lukewarm reception as theres not been enough people ...even a few months ago there was little response .... i think its really a case of finding a venue and deciding whats the minimum amount of people you would organise it for and see what happens !

" Dunsop Bridge " looks gorgeous wee town ... what about the school gym ... local pub function room , what about marquess / tents to extend a venue ... are people voting with their feet for surfleet because its NOT a nightclub ? ..just a few ideas ...yeah maybe dunsop too small ..i know in USA theres a " laser camp out " looks great for that maybe .... maybe thats a great idea for Scotlem !

    Hi Guys

Just a "half " update ! should know maybe next week a definate date and venue in JULY , ive been looking at some venues just off M74 , to take an hour off the journey up from England , in some friendly scottish towns !

Postive reactions from some venues ! most of these towns have caravan parks around and B&Bs so I would consider it being a WEEKEND event ? HOW do possible attendees view this ...would a weekend event be OK or is it too much with all the other events around the UK.

    Paul,
In for a penny, in for a pound

I look at it this way: the longer the event, the more laser fun and "worth it" the driving is

    Default Bump!

    Greetings chaps,

Just thought I'd stick my head in the door and say hello, since I don't frequent as often as I should.

Guessing we are still on for the ScotLEM.. venue still solid ? shall I bring bbq food ?

Have been meaning for ages to mention another venue.. kinda far flung but lots of outdoor display potential.. (not much indoor however)

My Wife's family own a farm, up in the Highlands - about 40 Mins from Dalwhinnie (yes, hell of a long drive for you southerners)..

    Google:
    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&so...4298,-4.701376

Close to train station, so some of you could catch the sleeper up! which is pretty enjoyable.

They have a few holiday cottages, and a large farmhouse that sleeps 8 I think.. (plus plenty more on the floor) - excellent Wifi coverage also..

Anyway, it's worth a shot.. would involve a little more driving.. plus we may need to chip in to get a Generator of sorts if we want to run *a lot* of kit.

Certainly be a LEM to remember, and I'd think CAA clearance would be a doddle!

What do you think chaps ?
