Talking New projector finally up and running. Thanks all for your help!

Can't wait to get some more colors in this thing.....the addiction begins. Although, I'd say the addiction set in pretty quickly since it was only about a month ago since I discovered this "little" project.
Thanks Stuka, DZ and Gottaluvlasers and everyone else for all your help and patience.

P.S. - I'm running a set of DT-30's and these things sure are noisy at full size. I can quiet them down some by reducing the size but, is it safe to run them at full size or should I keep it lower?

Nice job Synce! How much green is that again? Adding red shouldn't be too expensive, it's always the blue that's painful to the wallet!

Regarding scanner noise, this comes up a lot with different scanners, some probably are a bit more noisy than others, but it does depend on what your scanning. The scanners are kinda like little speakers, I don't recommend trying this as it seems rather hard on scanners, but if you connect up audio you can hear music playing from them. Need proof?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zxoGWU4Lhg

Oh wow, that's pretty impressive. I'll keep my actual speakers for that! I'm running a 300mw green right now. I'm guessing adding a 640 red somewhere in the 350mw to 500mw range should match nicely.

    Thanks!

    Another addict is born.........

    Looks great Chris -

    Congrats!!

As far as scanner noise and image size -
I tend to cringe if they're "squealing" all the time!

There are several references around concerning scan angles and image size, but here's my very simplistic approach -
I have found that you should generally be able to get a fairly-simple frame (circle, square, etc.) projected to a good "wide screen" size (8' x 8' "ish") across a typical room without generating a lot of loud noise from the scanners. Having said that, some abstracts and "circles of dots" tend to generate much more noise than basic shapes, even when the scan size is reduced.

Intermittant squeals should be fine, and you can expect the scanners to get a bit warm to the touch.
If they're squealing ALL the time, and / or getting HOT to the touch, you might need to do a bit of tweaking....

as far as noise goes you would be surprised how much noise the lasers themselves make when being modulated (at least DPSS green/blue do, my red doesn't make any noise)
