    Default metric to imperial

So I am not spending much time in the UK at the moment. I am out in central america. I've left all my tools back home but do have various laser bits with me. I need to pick up some new tools here. My drill and tap sets back home were all metric and now I have to use the imperial system.

So my question is, what size drill bits and taps do you generally use in imperial? What are the common ones (ie M3, M4, and M6)?

    Thanks
    Rich

For mounting pcb's and such, mostly M3 (but tapping M3 by hand is not easy for sure)
For mounting misc laser hardware to a base plate, I tend to use M4 (and most of the hardware is tapped for M4)
For general light mechanical constructions M6

M9x0,5 is used for threads on collimating lenses ...

    Generally, from M4 up, the common ones are M6 / M8 / M10 / M12

These I already have. I'm looking to find out what are the common ones for the imperial system. I cannot get metric bolts here and shipping from Europe will take far too long and would be inconvenient if I only needed 1 to finish the project.

    Cheers

    Metric__________Rough English equiv
    M3____________1/8"
    M5____________3/16"
    M6____________1/4"
    M8____________5/16"
    M10___________3/8"

    Second number indicates TPI i.e. 3/8" - 24
