    Default How to power FB3

    Hi,

I have my FB3 set up for powering from a mains adaptor but would like to have the option of running it from USB. I know you can change it over on the board but want to keep the option of mains power when running in auto mode away from my computer.

I just wanted to check that, if I purchased something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-Mains-Adap...item2302626506 I would be able to leave it set to USB power and just plug this in when needed. I dont want to damage my FB3.

    Thanks.

There is a little pair of copper/brass holes on the board, just by the USB socket which if bridged allow it to run on USB buss power. However, you need to be very careful as it will break things if you also plug in the PSU whilst on USB.

I followed someone elses example with mine and soldered in a jumper header to the holes so I can switch buss power on and off by adding or removing the jumper.

Thanks, what I want to do is have the the ability to run from mains or PC power without having to take the cover off to change a jumper. If I set it up to USB power, would an external mains to USB adaptor run it ok or would the FB3 expect to communicate with the PC when in the USB powered setting?
